Storage season is coming not that soon in this part of the world, I hate that thought and the idea of her away ills me . So she will be driven on dry days till a snow day alert is given , then she goes to her dorm Click image for larger version.

Cleaned the K&N's, they were dirty maybe from the backfires or it's just been a while. Pulled off the domes and sprayed everything with carb cleaner. Took out the old N58's and put in some N27's. The N27's look a little thinner. Put a new nozzle on the front one, ran out of daylight so put the other new nozzle tomorrow.
Only glitch was one of the old needles wouldn't come out easy. Put some scotch tape on it before using the pliers but scratched it near the base anyway. Then I read the manual - says you're supposed to turn and pull at the same time - when I did that it came right out. Heard the N58 needles are no good so no big deal I guess.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow if it makes a difference.

I took the day and installed some of my NOS finds: Choke cable assembly, air cleaner, fuel rail, washer bottle, and am waiting for my NOS tire to arrive for my spare compartment. I have been wire brushing nuts, bolts, fuel rail, etc... for plating next week. I like having spares. I will be having black, yellow and clean zinc plating done. I pulled apart a rear bumper to send to be plated at Tri-City Plating in TN. I sent out a early AM/FM radio and a early AM auto search radio to B C electronics in PS for complete rebuild they should be finished in a week or two. I am hoping to get all of this complete before I start on the restoration of the 72 FJ40 I acquired this past spring.

By way of suggestion, replace both lamps with Cibie lenses and quality H4 bulbs...You will be amazed!!

Default Drive in the Georgia Mountains

I joined up with Z Atlanta to go on a drive up to the North Georgia Mountains. Even with the worn out suspension, it was a blast. The guys behind me enjoyed watching the old Z navigating the twisting roads. I did leave early, though. I'm far too out of shape to be driving on curvy roads for very long without power steering.

I posted one video of the drive to my blog already, and I'll post others later. Z Atlanta Fall Mountain Run ? October 2013 | Steve's CARtography

6 of us sorted z parts in the z barn... found an uncracked 240z dash in the hoard.

Forgot to mention I also found the missing BBS RS rim from my IMSA . Also a good buddy helping sort has a NOS vintage Fairlady Z mesh grill that goes back to Japan and early 70's. It was a good day!

Default Took the Z for a fall ride in New England

Another beautiful fall weekend in New England. Decided to take the Z for a ride and take some falls shots of the car with the new Konig Rewinds I recently bought for the car.

Default Happy Birthday to my car.

My Z turns 38 this month 11/75. Not sure of the official date so she gets the whole month of November. I have had her since 3/76.

I entered some images of her in out tri-state photographers convention, here they are.

What a difference a tune-up makes. Points were shot, guess my crappy old condenser killed the old ones after only 6 months. New condenser and/or cleaning the rotor and cap contacts last week made a big difference but it still wasn't right. Dwell was 44 deg. So put in some new Nissan points, set dwell to 36 deg. Timing was about 10 deg at 1000 rpm, set it to 15 at 1000 and took a drive. Huge difference. Accidentally burned some rubber, not easy with stockish motor, AT, and sticky Falkens. Way better at all speeds. Might be pinging a little on the hill, wish CA had 93 octane.
Only bummer, read the manual twice, but couldn't figure how to make the digital dial-back feature on the Innovate light work. Maybe someday.

My Z went in for its 2 yearly roadworthy inspection. I dropped it off at 08:30 and the garage called that it was ready at 10:15am. It past not problems and even had a random check from the RDW (Dutch Traffic Authority).

I filled mine up with fuel as it is now my DD car, my truck smells like a dog. My Camry bit the dust last night after I relapsed into my road rage problem and stomped the throttle. I think the timing belt slipped a few teeth.

Mine is in the garage for the winter - wheels off - on 4 jack stands - getting ready to clean - paint - polish things. It's my second favorite time of the year...............naturally my first is the driving season! There are only 2 seasons per year, right? One is driving - and the other modding / polishing/ cleaning!

We drove the Z from San Mateo, thru San Francisco and up to Novato for a holiday "cookies & nog" gathering at a friend's house.

The Z got a lot of attention along the way and many compliments from people at the party. Had to go outside to give people "Z tour" three times.

Replaced my window frames (the old once had some in my opinion ugly ass mirrors attached to them) so i can mount my new fender mirrors. I also throw the silencer in the middle away for some more sound. Came out ok.

Got my calipers off the car - getting them cleaned up - getting ready for G2 caliper paint custom mixed for my 110 color. Should add a little color through the wheels.

Tried something new, I think....Before placing the refurbished tail lights back on, I placed a generous bead of 'Seal 'N Peel' silicone on the interface of the rubber gaskets with the supporting framework. Then I used ordinary all weather silicone to seal all the seams in the back end.The idea/attempt was to perfectly seal the rear end from exhaust fumes. Now I'll have to wait until spring before knowing if it was of any value. Regardless, the lights certainly look a lot nicer.
