    Default Never Released Z Wagon

    There is quite a bit of hype around some photos we received from the Zcar Convention currently going on in San Diego, CA. The photos were of this cool little prototype car, a never released Zcar Wagon. While I genuinely thought they should have released the car and called it a Zagon, there are others who may not agree with the design styling. Here are some pretty neat photos from the Zcar Convention showing off this car at the NISMO booth.

    Nice looking alternative style. I like the flow of the body lines. Sort of the "Shooting Brake" body style that's been around forever and used by Jaguar and Ferrari recently.

    Default reminds me of the xke in the movie Harold and Maude

    It would make a great hearse. Great way to end the journey. A ride to the boneyard in a z-earse...

    We are here and have seen it in person. It is incredibly well done. Not sure I love it, but I definitely like it a lot. Best thing that ever happened to a 2+2. Congratulations to all involved.

    That is an interesting interpretation with a slightly more modern Twist. Also looks like the work was done with a lot of care.

    I think the original CinderZ was much closer to Mr. Matsuo's concept.

    The car was custom built by JDM Car Parts www.jdm-car-parts.com from a 2+2 chassis as I understand.

    Great pictures, Carl. I think this is the original Matsuo sketch, isn't it?

    If it is in Calif. It needs surf boards on the roof to look right.
    There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply.
    The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey.

    Hi Chris;
    That is one of the earlier drawings. We would have to find a clear copy of the original to see if Mr. Matsuo's initials or signature are on it.

    Mr. Matsuo brought his original hand sketched {Lead Pencil} drawing to the Convention at Nashville. In that drawing, the rear quarter window extend to the last pilar - and the rear door slopped down from the roof - very much like the CinderZ. All within the more-or-less stock rear quarters. Not so boxy in the rear as show in the color drawing. The color drawing looks like an attempt to extend the cargo area a bit more.

    Matsuo mentioned this at the 2013 convention.

    Watching the Youtube video linked below - near the end you can see a couple of Mr. Matsuo's original drawings - lead pencil drawing is shown the middle of the three.. That was drawn using a Fairlady Z432 as the base.

    Jay's video shows the time and amount of work that went into this project:
