    Default All Z Carpet Kit

    Hi All,
Has anyone bought the Carpet Kit from AllZ parts in Sydney. The guy described it a "2 x floor carpet and sill, and cargo area".
It's $235 which is pretty good, but too much to throw away it's not real flash.
Also, any one got any suggestion where to get new diff mounts for a reasonable price?
    Thanks

If I remember correctly, the front diff mount in my car is a genuine nissan part that I got through All Z with a bunch of other bits and pieces. Was around $90 I think.

    240znz,
here is the information you requested. Highly recomend you use a phone or a fax not email.

from my past experience, Warren is a great bloke and he will bend over backwards to help, but his weapon of choice is not computer based email.

    Yair, Steve's right,
Warren is rather slow at reading and answering Emails however, he WILL answer. Eventually.

Practicly everything I've needed has come from Warren.
From brakes and shockies to switches, door handles, console and dash mat and everything in between.

And it was all done via Email.

He's always rendered me good service at a fair price and I have no reservations in recomending him.

    Rick.

Yeah so does anyone know about the carpet kit? Cause i'm interested too cause my Z i'm fixing is stripped and the carpet is gone.

Also anyone know approx how much it would cost to get the whole lot done by an apholsterer?

Probably not cheap from an upholsterer. I spoke to the guy up here in kelso about doing the boot and strut towers in my zed, and he was talking around the $500 mark.

If you want, you can have whatever carpet is left in my parts zed. I just had a quick look and it appears all the passenger side is there, but some of the drivers side is missing. Come and have a look on the weekend and take it if you want it.

Sorry MickieB, but the carpet kit is one of the few things I bought elsewhere so I can't vouch for what Warren supplies.

    The dash mat's O.K. though.

Had to dig this one up instead of starting a new thread.

Anyone tried out this carpet kit yet? I'm going to be ready to buy one soonish so wanna start checking prices. Also what else will warren do for interior parts? (Eg, inside of the door, Plastic over the rear wheel housing etc)

Mickie: I have the motorsport auto and victoria british catalogs and price lists (a few years old) here which I am happy to lend ya. They'll give you an idea of what parts are still available and the ballpark prices.

I beg to differ: I had all of my carpets replaced at the same time my new seat covers were fitted. The total cost which included cutting, overlocking and underlay and new luggage straps was AU$280. This did not include the cost of the new seat covers or (the hard part) finding black loop pile carpet...the carpet itself only cost $55. So shop around your upholsterors...

and in the meantime I'll shamelessly show off my new carpets (here's the old stuff) http://www.classiczcars.com/photopos...cat=500&page=1

My quote included redoing all the vinyl over the strut towers, hence the price difference. Your new setup there looks the goods.

    MickieB,

Mate, if there's a Z part you want, Warren at All Z Parts will probably have it.
    He KNOWS Zeds.

    As I said before, I didn't get my carpet from Warren. Unfortunately. Instead I sourced it through;

Tru-Fit Carpets, 19 Brighton Road, Dandenong, Vic. 3175.

    Freecall number; 1800-335-896

    Web site; www.tru-fitcarpets.com.au

    Email; info@tru-fitcarpets.com.au

Advert can be found in Just Cars Magazine.

Can't remember the cost though I'm sorry.

Full kit. Dvrs and passengers floor, side strips, behind the seats and rear deck.

I'm not 100 percent happy with it though. Quality's pretty good but I expected better. Floor mats shift around, no way to hold them in place. Tried stick on Velcro without success. I may have received the worst of the batch. Don't write them off just on my say so, others might be happy with what they received.

Bitumen/Felt underlay was pretty good though.

When I pulled the OEM carpets out of my 260Z i wasnt very impressed with the multi peice "design" which sounds like what the Tru-Fit kit is copying?

I would much prefer a moulded one peice.

Halz that's real good, nice looking carpet. I agree with drunkenmaster, be good to get a mouled one peice.

Could maybe some real tough glue hold the carpet in place? If i went through an upholsterer would it be more likely to fit properly and not move do you think?

An upholsteror will measure your car and the carpets will fit exactly. My rear deck carpet is very snug and does not move at all. The front carpets 'latch' onto the metal retaining tabs under the seat and they don't slide either - the underlay also stops them from moving.

There should not be any need to use glue to hold them.

I have a tru-fit set in my Z. It was a 7 piece set or something, but it fits badly behind the seats because it isn't moulded to the shape of the floor. It just kind of bunches up and looks messy. In front of the seats fits good though, and the side bits under the sill plates are average. I made my own covering for the rear out of a really thick bit of material that matched the carpet. Just carefully cut it to shape. The piece supplied in the kit wouldn't fit due to a sub box in the back glued in, so it is still rolled up in the cupboard.
I drive a Z because there simply weren't enough station wagons to go around.

Yair Scott, that's the same kit I bought. As I said, quality's not to bad but I'm not happy with it.
The reason I went for the multi piece kit was that I went to a lot of trouble to find vinyl with a diamond design to fit over the drive shaft tunnel.
I'm seriously considering buying carpet to do the job myself.

I'm going to get mine done one day soon after i get some tyres on it and get the engined balanced and what i am thinking of doing it to get the carpets moulded so that they conpletely go over the footwells and then also get some mats made up and have those too. Would this work and what do you guys think??

Sounds like a good idea, you'll have to tell us how it goes if you do.

I won't be doing my carpet for ages yet, i'm just getting in the research now so i can plan the job on the car.
