Anyone had experience putting a lot of torque through a Supra gearbox eg big V8 or turbo? How do they hold up? Is there anything stronger thats better, readily available and will fit?

I have run my v8 through a steel case celica 5 speed for 10 years no problem a friend had a supra behind a 327 chev for years with out a problem too so I would have to say that there ok myself

depends which supra box you are talking about.
No personal experience with them, but many high power supras (talking 600hp+) keep the stock r154 box and they are all quite up to the task. Even the earlier generation supra trannies are quite strong.
Good luck finding one for cheap though.
have a search on performanceforums.com about r154 boxes... plenty of info there.
The supra boxes may not be cheap by 6 cylinder standards but they are a bargin compared to v8 manual boxes
Im told there are different models the turbo box being the strongest but as i said before my old celica steel case has lasted 10 years with a mild v8

Thanks for the good info. I assume that a Dellow bell housing is used to adapt to a Nissan engine?
you can by the dellows for holden, chevs, fords and rover leyland v8's but the nissan v8 is one of a kind we used a nissan auto bellhousing and modified it to take the toyota box
