bolts to cover holes from removed bumperettes

I am toying with the idea to remove the bumperettes off of my 240Z bumpers to get it closer to looking like the euro bumpers with only the horizontal bumper. But I would like to fill in the holes left with shiney chrome bolts. What have people been using to fill these holes?

Chrome carriage bolts from your local Ace hardware would work. Another option would be to send to Denver Bumper Works and have them weld the holes and rechrome the bumpers. I had mine done that way, as have a few others in the forums and they do incredible work.

Note -- I am only a happy customer of Denver Bumper Works and have no financial relationship with them (despite wishing I did )

I'll second stainless steel rather than just chrome carriage bolts. I used them on my od 320 Pickup rear bumperettes (for the same reason). The chrome ones would rust over time.

Have you found a source for the rubber plug that is installed in the bumperette to minimize the damage the tailgate would make upon contact?

I haven't owned the 320 for over two years now but I never opened my tailgate beyond horizontal so there was never any contact betwen the tailgate and the bumperettes. I did, however, have the plugs in them. I just don't recall where I got them.

My car, a UK model (late 1977 260Z as in the brochure images), has rubber plugs fitted to the front overrider holes (Nissan P/N 62689-21000 will fit). At the rear, the wrap-around bumper rubbers simply extend over the overrider holes (see images from a couple of UK brochures).

Why couldn't they put the blinkers under the bumper like we have them in the US. It just looks weird with the cutout for the blinkers and nothing there.

I have seen some pictures in Japanese car mags with the holes filled with a black rub plug, that is the route I am going to go.

In euro models those little marker lights were blinkers. We were (i think it's general rule in europe) not allowed to have amber lights illuminating all the time on the side of the car. That's why we dont have the rear (red) marker light either.

I found some cheap crome plastic hole covers at the local sucks o'smiley. they are a little chessy but look good. I will post a pic.....

I used the stainless carriage bolts along time ago but now have the euro in front. I second the
chrome company DENVER BUMPER WORKS! I shipped my rear bumper to them and they did
fantastic work. They were fast and vary easy to work with. Even with the shipping it was inline with having the work done locally Plus I had my bumper back and on the Z in less than 10 days!

Well I ordered some chrome bolts form zcarsource to try to cover the holes in my bumper. Not sure how it looks without bumperettes. I mean I like the clean look, but I need to get the bumpers totally redone to make it look right. You can tell where the bumperettes should be. The chrome is brighter and the rubber side molding looks like it was pressed up against the chrome. I think I may have to leave them on until it is time to redo both bumpers.

You can take your bumper to a local welder and have him fill in the holes. Then get the bumper rechromed.... plenty of places here locally that work cheap.

I was thinking of using button-head bolts with hex holes. they would have to be chrome or polished stainless steel.
