    Default Heater Control Valve

I am doing a lot of work on my 76 280Z to begin driving daily.

I just realized that the previous owner bypassed the heater control valve and the heat is on continuously.

Does anyone have a heater control valve they may want to part with reasonable priced or know where I might find one.

May be needing other heat/air related parts as I move forward.

    Thanks.

The on-line catalog says your P/N is 27116-N4220 for 08/75 and later. I checked Courtesy and it is listed as NLA. For earlier cars the P/N is 27116-N3600, is available at Courtesy for $31.05. Some creative engineering might make an earlier version work for you.

Captain Obvious's solution might be an option. It will take some wrecking yard wandering. I did something similar to his, but with a valve with a 90 degree bend. If I had to redo it though, I'd locate in the engine bay like he did. There's just no room under the dash to fit the parts, let alone do the work.

If you decide to try it, try to find a longer control cable along with the valve. The stock cable might not reach to the engine bay. My 76 280Z cable would have been too short.

Also, almost all of the Japanese brands around his year range have some variation on the valve. Some close backwards also so you have to do some mental gymnastics about how the stock lever works. Cable retract = open. The valves are easy to get to, they're all on the firewall behind the engine.

AND, just realized that you didn't specify which valve. One is just a straight vacuum controlled shutoff valve, the other is the flow control valve sometimes with the capillary tube.. The shutoff valve is probably the cheaper one.

ZSpecialties (aka Oliver) has a selection of parts that you might need when you're under there.

I got one from my Nissan dealer about a month ago, $45 I think. Took 2 days to come in from Irving, Texas distribution center.
Nissan part #27116-E4400. Now I have to gather up the hoses, Black Dragon and MSA have the 3 preformed ones for around $50.
