Well i know the seat release thing your refering to, back lowering lever, is on
the door side for both seats in my '77 280Z if that helps.
I have recovered the seats in my 1972 240z and am not sure which side is which. Does the release lever on the seat bottom of the drivers seat go on the door side or on the tunnel side of the seat?
Another question, on the seat backs I noticed that where the bracket bolts screw into the seat back frame , on one side the frame is flat and on the other side the threaded nut is raised. Which side does the raised threaded part face for the drivers side, on the door side or the tunnel side?
Thanks
Bob M

As WingZr0 said, the lever to recline the seats is outboard (toward the door).
He's talking about the release lever on the seat bottom to move the seat fore and aft on the track. They go toward the tunnel. For the second question, if I understand it correctly, the raised bracket also goes toward the tunnel.
