    Default C110 Indicator lense

    Help!

At the weekend i put an extremely frustrating dent in my car, and as a result im now after a new left front fender indicator lense [not on the bumper] for a c110 240k. Anyone have one lying around at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

JMT240KGTR I think James' handle is, and before he swapped his for a Valiant he had a load of spares. I wonder if he sold the spares with the car or not... might be worth giving him a PM.

    Hey Tom,
I have had a look around for the spare I thought I had and cannot find it. But, the bloke I have just bought that ebay 240k from says he has some. I will find out tomorrow when I pick up the car, would you like me to buy a LH unit and send it over to you? He is in Sydney and I will be back there tomorrow.

Hey that would be great!! Umm i imagine it would be farily inexpensive? But yes go ahead, you know how much theyre worth and obviously youre not going to be convinced into spending an exorbitant amount on it. Ill pm you about payment and all the rest, cheers once again.

    Hi Kent,
yeah, in the first post Tom says "not in the bumper" , so it's the little guy on the side. I didn't think they were left or right exclusive?

    Hey Tom,
The bloke thinks he has some, there are two separate models, left and right. He didn't have them with the car tonight, however, he is going to have a look around tomorrow for them.
From memory, he is asking $25 each, sounds fair to me. I will let you know what transpires.

    Thread Hijack warning...

Speaking of 240K's in Western Australia. I saw a nice one on the road on sunday. Saw it go past while waiting to get out on the main road, caught up to it near some traffic lights. Cruised next to it for a little while. 2 white skylines side by side, one C110, one R31 GTS-X.

Had to leave it behind though, the older guy driving it seemed intent on doing a few K's less than the speed limit.

Which reminds me of another story, completely unrelated.... my dad was out in his old beige L300, got to a roundabout, and at the other 2 entries to the roundabout were 2 other beige L300's. They all looked at each-other and couldnt quite believe it.

Ok, you can have your thread back now.

Back to the subject at hand !!!

I had a chat to the bloke today, he still has not found the indicators. Rather than me quoting when I get the price. How about I wait until he finds them and tells me. Sorry Tom. More news when I get it !!!

A plethora of information waiting for me! All sounds well, Bruce, im still interested based on your quote, so as soon as he uncovers one give me a yell (= Oh and apologies for the lack of a pm, ive been in the midst of moving house the past few days!

Im interested to hear about that K in WA, Mr Camo [soz, dont know your real name] So far since being interested in the cars ive tallied eight cars, including my own, in wa and none have looked better than woeful. Rust appears to be the number one enemy of the c110 [as it is of many 30 yr old cars], but a marjority of those eight cars were in the final stages of a rust destruction [one car had a visible hole in the drivers door as large as a human head!].

Currently in the Quokka there is an ad in the 'wanted' section calling for c110 coupes in 'any' condition. Perhaps a restoration at hand? I have not seen a coupe in wa yet...

G'day guys. i was the one who bought that nice blue coupe off james a couple of months ago, and since have been noticing how dodgy the car actually is. the car turned out to be a bit of a death trap (would've been nice if james had let me know cause i still would've bought it, just not driven it as much)

however i have big plans for this car, so soon i'll be asking lots of questions.
So far i've just been doing my best to keep the car running (it's not that bad as far as reliability is concerned, but still very dodgy.) within the next month or two i'll have a fibreglass bonnet to replace the less than safe rusted original.

anyway, there was no fender blinker lenses with my many boxes of spares, but if anyone needs anything please ask because most of it is taking up precious space.

btw i've got a few datsun badges and a few Z wheel centres.

    Hi Tom

Craig Here. The K looked to be in good condition, nice and shiny white paint, no apparent rust (but the sun had gone down, and I only had a quick look). But none the less it looked well looked after. I'd guess the driver was about 40 or more. It was on wanneroo road heading north, from warwick road Think it had waneroo lic plates. it kept going north past ocean reef road, when I turned off.

Yeah, you dont see many K's out on the road. I havent seen a coupe in about 3 or more years. That was in tha same spot I saw this one actually (wanneroo road between beach and warwick road) It was a metallic blue coupe up on the pavement. Looked like it had broken down or run out of petrol. I wanted to leave a note on the window offering to buy it, but was flat broke at the time.

Is that how you got your car? tailed it till it stopped an bought it off the owner?

    Ah Gday Craig,

Nice to hear about the circumstances of the sightings. I hope to make it up to landsdale wreckers at some stage, perhaps that broken down coupe you saw could be waiting there for me? I reckon there would have to be at least a couple of coupes left on wa roads. When i was at the wreckers in welshpool on monday, i had a chat to the proprietor in regards to k's in his premises. Just two years ago he had a sedan and a coupe, but they sat there for years without any attention, until he decided to send them to the crusher. I guess thats trhe way it works, not long after you throw something out, someone comes along asking after it...

I bought my car out of the quokka acutally. Just when i was in the market for a new car [primarily a c110], and the first time i had bought the quokka in years, my k popped up...very coincidental (=

This is off topic, but i think here is appropriate enough. I got hold of a c110 coupe's whole rear panel including lights assembly, with the intention of fitting it to my sedan...And to my horrow it doesnt fit...The studs on the light assemblies themselves dont line up with the holes in the sedan...so im not really sure what my options are, other than to go back to the original sedan setup...Any thoughs?

    Hi Tom,
I found parts of my indicator lense. I have the rear panel ane the metal ring that goes over the plastic lense. The only problem is the lense itself is missing and I cannot find the bugger.
Your welcome to those bits, or just keep it in mind.

Hey, i guess if you cant find it you can always get a lense of me now . I was previously living a few houses down from a mate of mine, who had pretty much taken up half of his block [it was 1/4 acre!] and underneath his house with 1600/datsun gear...Hes building a 1600 rallycar in the near future if everything is on track. AH and btw, would you have that wiring diagram lying around for the electronic dizzy, im going to try and wire mine up this weekend - I collected a zx coil the other day for $10 so im set.

    Tom,
I traced out the wiring of the dizzy for you. It's pretty simple.
    1) The Brown Wire which connects to the PIN in the Dizzy which points away from the dizzy goes to plus 12 volts. And you might even see a marking under the Pin contact that says "B" for battery.
    2) The Blue wire which connects the the Pin which is flat to the side of the dizzy goes to the negative side of the coil. You may see a "C" marked under the Pin for Coil.
    3) Last but not least, the positive side of the coil to battery. Now depending on how you car is wired, you should be able to use the existing wire from you coil. Just remember, some cars only power their coils with 8 volts because of a "ballast" resistor.

You new electronic dizzy is not going to run well on 8 volts, so you might have to buy another coil that runs without a resistor. And then simply place a short circuit over the resistor, affectively removing it from circuit and giving you 12 volts again.

Yeah i should do, ive just got to be careful when cutting up the bodywork for them. Its much more difficult to install flares on a four door obviously because of the extra doors in the way but, it can be done. What do ya think of the colour on that car, not bad eh?

no idea if what we did was right, but the flaires seem to cover them nicely.. just need to fibreglass up the gaps left now

Wow Kent, big move! Those pictures made me cringe... to think, I'll have to do that soon. yeowch! Thanks for the pictures though, interesting idea to have the inside cut into sections and bent forward... did you think this up yourself or stole the idea from somewhere else?

The pictures will be helpful for when I try to explain to the body shop what I want done!!

    Any problems encountered?

no problems really, turned out better than expected actually!

i had been planning to have to weld up little bridges between the inside and outside skins, luckily when we cut the outside skin, we came up with the idea of just bodgying up the bridges by bending the metal (without them, i was worried the panels would vibrate, and flex a lot). now i really only need to cover the area with a couple of layers of fibreglass to keep out the water etc.. and then hopefully find some big wheels to fill up the gaps

If you dont weld them up you have seriously compromised the stuctural integrity of the car. Do the shock mounts join up to the wheel arches? If so the wheel arches give the car alot of strength in that area, and now the edge of the wheel arch are gone there is no strenght there. They are just free floating. Might look nice, but you woulnt want to do any serious driving in that thing. Very illegal also.

You really should weld the outer skin to the wheel arch.

good point.. but i owuld think the shock mounts would be reinforced a little better than just being bolted to the inner skin..

i have a crap memory, and can't find any pictures, but i am sure that it bolts up to the inner side of the guard anyways, which is reinforced with the metal structure in the boot.. i will check that though..

we had a crap time trying to get the hired welder to work properly.. so when we get one that does, we will probably weld it up anyways.. just to be on the safe side..

Having just browsed the 240K forums over the last hour or so and catching up on any topics I may have during my time away, I noticed one of the new member (Mobsta aka Jesse) having a little rant on how the car I sold him was 'dodgy' and a 'death trap'.

Before I go any further let me say that I won't use this forum as a slanging match, however since I sold him the car I heard from him once regarding an apparent issue with registration (even though I sold the car unregistered).

    I will however just shed light on the obvious, particularly in relation to when people buy cars, and for young guys out there not understanding a whole lot about them. In my defence I will run through a couple of points;

    The car was sold as unregistered, with the following faults;

    1. Exhaust, required new or welding to attach.
    2. Steel fuel line from tank to engine bay blocked; as a TEMPORARY measure, I ran a length of fuel hose direct from the tank to engine bay, this was secured to the underside of the body, never intended or recommended for permanent use.
    3. Rust in bonnet; not severe at all, in fact the original gold paint was visible on this side as it was not sprayed. If this was an issue or such a severe hazard, anyone in their right mind would tend to this.
    4. Auto trans reverse inhibitor switch; not connected.

Based on the above I decided not to sell the car with a RWC, even as insignificant in terms of $$ as I regarded it. ALL these points were noted upon sale/inspection and duly acknowledged by the buyer.

    With regards to the good points of the car, where should I start;

    1. L24E engine shaved .030" & 240K auto trans, 240K extractors (extremely rare for those who know), twin SU carbs in EXC cond, original condition, little rust, 99% of all mouldings in perfect condition, all accesories in perfect working order, no engine/radiator leaks, did not blow smoke/burn oil, excellent compression, VG handling, all suspension, ball joints, components, rubber boots, etc were very good, 280ZX series 2 alloys, SAAS steering wheel.
    2. ALL of these items listed here were in VGC and VG working order.
The car was sold with a spare L28 N42 engine with exc compression, 280ZX 5 speed in GC, manual pedal box, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, 280ZX turbo flywheel, spare 240K flywheel, clutch, pressure plates, spare struts, front and rear springs, brakes, twin piston calipers, brand new dual brake master cylinder, 2 electronic distributors, modules, standard carby, exhaust manifolds, inlet manifolds, C110 GTR flared gaurds, spare centre console VGC, l/r front guards, indicator lenses, front and rear bumpers, front light assemblies, rear light panel and lights, fuel pumps, fans, radiator, alternators, voltage regulators, window winders, 280ZX turbo oil pump, rocker covers, huge amount of spare gaskets, the list goes on.......

Jesse, do you not recall the car when you bought it? Even your mate who is a moderator on Ozdat said the car went very, very well upon taking it for a test drive (you couldn't for some reason). Do you not recall having to bring a ute along in addition to filling the boot & back seat of the coupe with every single spare part you could imagine for these cars? You were very content with what you were getting at such a price $2500.00, and to think that I PM'd your mate on Ozdat not long ago regarding buying back some of those spares that took me 10 years to accumulate from you! I'm a fool for selling that car at such a price, not to mention the spares!! Count yourself lucky mate.

Next time, before coming onto a website and slandering someone's name, I suggest you develop some form of experience regarding the topic at hand, in this case, automobiles, rather than simply read stuff off the net and claim to know what it is you're on about. As you said to me, you don't know anything about cars( I did not take advantage of this), you will pay to restore it ie L28, manual, etc, and you brought your mate along to test it, who was more than happy with the then current configuration (who wouldn't be!).

I am not dodgy, nor did I sell you a death trap, and the only reason I make this message public for all members to see is to demonstrate just that. Replacment bonnet??? You're kidding, someone is trying to make a buck from you!

When you've worked on cars for 15 years, come back and tell me what I sold you that day for $2500.00 was dodgy!

Based on the above, I rest my case.

I apologise to all for being a little upset and disappointed at having read Mobsta's post. This is the only post I will note re the above, I will not enter into a debate with this user via the sites forums, nor do I intend to off line. I appreciate the value and information this site provides for all Z & K owners, and I am sorry for this one off occurence.

holy **** !, you are a fool for selling all those parts with the car

hope you guys work it out (and since we are a pretty tight nit group, we certainly don't need any forum politics around here).

That certainly sounds like a damn good deal though i got to say!, Common sense sort of has to provail if you buy an unregistered car without a RWC, they are not brand new cars... there is ALWAYS something that can and will go wrong with them! (trust me, it took me 3hrs to drive 30km's today in my 240k ), you certainly can't compare them to the cars of today (brakes, reliability etc...), but that is one of the reasons we love em!

Hey James, I thought it was a bit odd he slagged your car like that. Nice to hear the other side of the story...

For that price you could hardly complain. Some of those parts... I'm still looking for. Priceless, you might say!! You know it as much as any of us. Don't know why you sold at that price... We'll blame the valium..err.. valiant I mean!!!

I tried to buy some of those parts that were "taking up precious space" once you had given/sold them to Mobsta, but I couldn't get a reply from my PM

Speaking of websites, though i'd post this here you you all got an email about it

There was a website by a guy somewhere in kuwait (accordign to alfa, posted on skylines australia). He just copied pictures of C110 skylines and put them up.

Anyway the place it was at, it isnt any more, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, until now.

Yep, ya were a fool alright for selling all that for such a low price to some guy who doesn't appreciate the car. We all know that these are "project cars" that will never be "right" and will consume a lot of time, money and care to keep them running, not to mention hunting down those elusive spare parts.

I hope things work out . . . this board doesn't need flames, rivalries, and dissent.
