that's a pretty sweet example, by the looks, much rust?
was it a local (adelaide) car?
Hi i'm new here and new to C110's, I bought a C110 Hardtop a few weeks ago and thought you guys might like to see it. I've had to tidy up a few things including minor bodywork and have removed the mudflaps for a cleaner look, I'll probably put on a decent exhaust and some old school rims next.

If you are wondering what the thing is under the front drivers side bumper its just a scoop to feed air into the engine oil cooler.
that's a pretty sweet example, by the looks, much rust?
was it a local (adelaide) car?
It has had some rust repairs done to the lower panels but was cut out and plated by the previous owner.
Yeah it was a local Adelaide car.
looks really clean
Very nice ride. Is it a later 76-77 or the earler 72-73 model? Yes, It looks like it needs a new pipe out the rear. Oh, and I think your front side indicators are on backwards.
Nice Pickup, I hope it didn't tax the wallet too much.
Enjoy.

It was built on the 3/77 and is chassis number 015542. I'll fix the indicators when i get a spare minute, they were probably put on backwards when the car was resprayed many years ago.
I paid just over 2K for it which i think was pretty cheap for such a tidy car. It drives very nicely and even has air conditioning that works but the factory AM radio is wearing thin. The ABC channel isn't exactly the best thing to listen to.
Sounds like a bargain for one is such good original condition.

Bargin. That's a good pick up. Take Care of it and Enjoy. And AC as well. Sweet. The only down side to a 77 model is that you cannot remove the polution gear. Ie: change too many carbies and stuff. But you can still go Fuel injection. Or at the very least, throw an electronic dizzy in so it's easier to start and you will not have to change points again.
As for the AM Radio, you are going to have some fun there as today's standard single DIN stereo is about 10mm wider than the console face.

Thats very clean from the photos. Congrats on the find!!!
On the radio. I have done this on a few car's now that had the stock radio in the dash. Rather then cutting up a clean dash I just leave the stock deck and dash alone. Then buy a radio box for a Suzuki Samurai. You can order one from this site for under $30.00.
www.petroworks.com/interior.php . Its a plastic box thats made for a single din head unit. You can take this box and install your aftermarket deck where you please without hacking up your vintage dash. Plus leave that good old school radio in place for show.
I left the old 8track player in place on my 73 Corvette and used this box for mounting my new deck just outa view in the drivers foot well under the dash. It works like a charm and looks very clean.

It has a factory tape player as well so maybe i could get one of those converters that go into it and use a portable radio/cd player. Otherwise there have been a few good options posted above.

Yeah I've got one of them for my iPod - is kick ass![]()
She's a beauty.
I had the same rims on my old '77 coupe. They're C210 mags from '78 onwards. From memory they are 5.5 inches wide 14's.
PS: What is that hanging down at the front near the number plate on the drivers side? I cannot make it out.

The thing hanging down at the front is a small scoop that feeds air into a engine oil cooler core. By the rust bubbles and rust stains around the screws, brackets and over spray on it i'd say it's been on there for a long time (oil lines and adapter plate are old and crusty aswell), maybe 20 years+ which is a bit weird. The previous elderly owner had old 1980's motorbike and performance stickers on the rear bumper so maybe he was a bit of a hoon in his day and put it on.
Last edited by Laggy6; 05-11-2009 at 02:51 AM.
Cool. Could be the original brand of tyre but surely would be perished after 30+ years if it was the original tyre.
Weird the guy added the oil cooler as I can't remember ever having oil cooling problems with either of the 240's I owned. But then again maybe the Sth Oz heat gets to be too much.
The C110s had the same mags as the c210s, from late '76 at least. I had a July '76 coupe I bought from a lady (had done only 16,000kms in 1989), which had mags which she'd purchased with the car when new - she was allergic to air con so she got the mags instead. The spare on that did have the original tyre and it was slightly perished, and had never been used (no pitting or dirt on the mag, it looked like chrome). The boot looked like it had never had anything in it.
Your coupe's probably the best looking one I've ever seen though I think. I loved mine (sold it in 97 or so after head overtook heart), I still can't get over the fact they've become desirable, most people used to think nothing of them or even knew they existed.
With out flares, and mags & tyres to fill, they (coupes) don't look anything special

HOT AS FIND i would love another grany spec as my k is nearing completion :>
if you are looking 4 some badges and stuff i "may" have spares :>
HOLLY SMOKES!!!
where on earth...adelaide rather did you find this??
HI everyone i'm new here aswell... =) and a k owner from Adelaide.
How many do you think we have here in south oz?????
mega score!!! why soooooooooo cheap........??
Hi5!
Hi Lenny, i picked it up from a deceased estate auction here in Adelaide.
Is your K a 2 or 4 door and what sort of condition is it in?
I'm not sure how many are around but you don't see them on the road anymore, i cant remember the last time i spotted a hardtop driving on the road.
Hey Laggy!
deceased estate...that would explain it..... absolute bargain matey! If only i had known...i'd surely have out bidded you lol
Ur's in that condition is atleast 5-6k at a minimum! Absolute minter.
Mine is exactly like yours but a 73model. Straight as an arrow and only one spot of rust on the bottom left front guard. I'm needing a new paint job though, it's original but very faded.
Last time i saw one was 1988 and that was my old man'd mate.
ps why do u call it a hardtop? I know some had vinyl roof linings but they're still solid.
Nissan called the 2 door 240k's Hardtops so that's what i call them.
So you recently bought the faded silver auto 2 door off of ebay then?
If the quarter side glass rolls down, it's a hardtop. The reference comes from the top being rigid enough to support the glass and center framing structure of the unibody chassis without any solid pillars through the door and quarter window opennings, with or without any kind of vinyl trim.
If the car is a 2 door with fixed or pop out quarter side glass (a pillar in place), it is technically a coupe.
Very clean car!
Nice 240k I can't believe you found 1 like that around. I've not seen 1 like that in years. I hope I can find 1 like that one day.
I washed the 240 and took it for a drive to the beach today but didn't hang around long in case the sea air made it fall aparti did get a couple of half decent pics though.
There are no crappy Commodores spoiling the pics this time.
i should really put the indicators on the proper way one day.

absolutely gorgeous condition.
thank you for sharing!
any more plans for the car?
also have you thought about entering All Japan Day?
I'd love to see the car in person!
Last edited by swarf.; 02-14-2011 at 04:15 AM.
No plans for the car in the immediate future really, for the moment it will stay as is.
I'm not happy with the paint and panel on it and would like to give it a ground up restoration one day but that wont be for a few years. A worked motor with Triple Webers would be nice as well.
It has been entered into AJD so you can check it out there.
You have a very beautiful car. I fell in love with this body style first time I saw it. Silver and black make it. Mighty fine ride you have.
I notice your wheels have changed. What are they? I like them. I'd put them on my Z if available and would fit. Very seldom do I see 5 spoke with 4 lugs. Again, nice car & wheels.

car looked great at AJD, i had a look for you so we could have a chat but didn't see anyone standing around in the morning.
here's a couple photos i took -
![]()
mmmmmmmmm
so so nice
Needs the GL Badge on the front tho, just looks a little empty?
Thanks for the pics swarf, I forgot my camera so didn't get any![]()
I was only near my car for about 10 mins for the whole day so you would have been lucky to catch me. I spent most of the morning looking at the cars and I went for a walk up the beach with some friends after lunch. I walked past your 31 a few times but you had heaps of people looking at it so i didn't interrupt, it seemed to be quite popular!.
I might go to stadium drift at Tailem bend on march 12 but i'm not %100 sure yet, if i go i will take the datsun so if your there come over for a chat.
Adrian, i took the front GL badge off because i took the mesh out of the grill to clean it. after wearing out 2 tooth brushes they came up pretty well but when i sat the badge back in there it looked crap with half the blue paint missing so i left it off for the show.
I actually don't mind the look of it with out the badge.
i have a few more photos but they're kind of similar,
here's one -
ah, that would have been it then!
yeah i had a fair few people asking questions about the car, hopefully it will sell soon haha.
also, i liked the grill without the badge. it made it look nice and clean.
"hopefully it will sell soon" - is it for sale?
my car is, this lovely coupe isn't.
Trailer needs matching wheels.
still looks so so good on the trailer tho
hey mate, is this up and running again?
a friend of mine spotted a stock mint 240k coupe driving through town tonight and thought of you straight away
It definitely wasn't mine but It's good to hear that there's another one around and it's being driven, hopefully the owner joins up here and posts pics and info for us.
When I talked to you last I was going to just respray the engine bay but after taking out the LPG it left holes in the body work that needed fixing and I found some rust in the bootlid under the trim so I've decided to strip the whole car and give it a ground up rotisserie rebuild.
![]()
very nice! good to see that you're looking after it like it should be.
hope that lovely interior is tucked away where it can't be damaged! any plans for engine or suspension upgrades whilst the rebuild is occurring?
The plan is a mild L28 with triples and coilovers with a Brake upgrade.
Nice mate, should be awesome!![]()
That looks fantastic!
that in elizebether upull it? looks wicked! ive never seen it on the road!

is this sexy Skyline yours...................
Flared guards just don't do it for me, removes everything that's cool about Kenmeri styling...go with rad neggie camber, tuck the rear wheels under and cruise...tough.
Never seen that 4-door either, there's not many around I haven't seen, especially these days.
Anyways, I thread-jack.
![]()
Yeah see I love the flared guards, personal taste huh.![]()
Oh, of course, you're right...I just think, aside form erasing the styling cues around the rear arch, it's a shame it destroys the bodywork too, as it's hard to reverse if you're not a fan. How many Capri owners are regretting cutting out the 'hockey stick' and flaring their guards? Now that original un-molested cars are getting $30k+, just about all of them.
Blue on blue was the coolest colour scheme on the planet too, IMO.However, just looking at your build thread it's hard to believe anything you end up with is going to look anything but brilliant Adam...well done man.
Thanks mate, I certianly hope so! Yeah I head what you're saying, once you cut, it's cut. But then anything can be fixed. Blue on blue haha, you're a classic man hey! It's not my cup of tea but I hear you.
I'm dead keen to see some more pictures of Laggy6's car. Looks like the lights etc are in from his avatar.
No progress Adzmax, I just sat the jdm lights in there to see how it would look and fitted new reflectors to the rear bar so I sat it on for a look too.

I like the look of flares with wide rims but don't like the fact that the bodywork gets cut up to fit them.

Sorry, last threadjack.
Loving your work Laggy, this car is turning into a work of art!A couple of you guys are really giving these cars the treatment they deserve...I still remember the days when every one on the road was rusted out, belching smoke, sporting a towbar and had rooted rear suspension, really belied what a great looking car they are.
Bit of a update - I machined the rough cast finish off the alloy bearing carriers for the diff centre and gave them a little polish.
And i'm slowly putting every nut, bolt, washer, bracket etc. that was zink plated from factory into this tub ready to be redone.

Your bucket-o-zinc looks like mine. I've got parts from my 240 and an RX3 Savannah to get done too.
Those door handles look nice, I've been tossing up whether to replace or re-plate. Did you get them from YJ?
Degruch - Those adverts are cool but it's lacking Flares, lowness and watanabe's
Adz - I was the same as you, should i pull them apart and re plate them or get new ones. In the end I chose new ones from YJ because they required less effort haha.

I may have missed but the extra hole on the drivers side rear quarter? Gas?
The LPG filler was there unfortunately. I have a piece cut ready to weld in there so it should be fixed soon.
Yeah make sure you look around, the thing with YJ is that if someone bids in the last 10 mins, the clock resets. This means it hard to get a "bargain" as such. It's not like eBay where you can snipe.
still cant believe how tidy this already is, will be perfect once done
