Here are some pics of my car back from paint, a little overcast today so will get some better pics when the suns out.
Has come up really good. Now my turn to find the missing and restore and fit the rest.

Thats still the bonnet you sold the car to me with as well, was 3 days work but looks the goods now.
Im not sure how keen he is to do another one he spent 255 hours on this car, gives you and idea of what i spent too.
But now i see it finshed i know it was worth it to get it looking good.

looks real nice mate. please don't go 16s though... 15s max.
i can help you source wheels via yahoo japan if you would like.
edit - in fact i can help anyone source any parts if they need a hand, just let me know.
Just a thought! if you put 15's MAX! and lower the car to where it would look the part, wouldn't it mean that the rear would be sitting on the bump stops and the front would have had almost half of the spring cut out of it, once the rear A-frames have passed their horizontal arch they have nearly no suspension resistance in them what so ever, not much of a racecar!
Mr 180, your car is looking awsome, the colors work very well......Keep up the good work, nice to see another K on the go, what do you have in mind as far as motor and brakes?
Nothing like a new paint grin
Lee - 2/72 240Z
Thinking ahead is NO EXCUSE for thinking!
hmmmm this weekends progress.
These rubbers are more of pain to fit then one mite think took us many hours.
Start to refit the loom. have not found the rear loom yet but im sure its the somewhere
Cleaned up the lights took a couple of hours, then trail fitted the Grill
and just another random shot of the mirrors
also prepared the front and rear bumpers for polishing.
Dont seem like much but everythink takes time, hope to get the parts for the motor this week and get it back in maybe weekend after next.
Hoping to get the dynamating done during this week so i can start to refit the interior over the next week or so.
Looks awesome! Excited to see updates.
Some update pics been raining here alot so not a great deal has been done, im also looking to buy a new house so if that happens probably be no updates to after the new year.
Front bummer polished and fitted not really to my liking(quality wise) but will do for now
Rear bummer polished and rear light surround cleaned up and fitted
Dynamating started need to go buy another pack to finshs floor and do doors. Then all the interior can go in then.
![]()
I'm still trying to comprehend 255 hours. What a project! It looks sweet.
Mike
Brad you didnt weigh the dynamat by any chance did you before putting it in? Interested to know how much it all weighs
i didnt but when i go get the next pack will try and remember.
anymore progress
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
is that Dyna mat expensive? I take it its just for noise??
Thanks, killer looking K to mate.
Dyna mat is for noise and heat, heat being the main reason i did it.
Its been raining in sydney near none stop for the 2-3weeks so time to do things when i only have a single garage has been short.
Having said that i have got all the parts here now to clean up the engine and put it in, just need to find a gearbox and pedal box.
Also trail fitted seats so could work out how the new carpet went in.
heaps of room in the back with no front seats lol
first time i have every sat in the front seat of this car.
And i have done these but im still missing the weather strips on the front doors. i really need to find these as i plan on having all the metal work repaired to new once i have the last two pieces and will take the company 6-8weeks to do.
![]()
Don't you love Sydney weather!
Just out of curiosity, what Company will you use to fix the s/s trims? I ask because some of my trims will need repairing and re-polishing, along with my bumpers
in the near future.
This is the place i plan to use, they dont do bumpers. Let me know if you find some who will do bumpers tho as i may get a spare set of mine done.
http://www.classiccargurus.com.au/Mo..._and_Polishing
this place is not cheap once i get the last two trims i need i will take pics of the worst bits and let everyone know the price.
Hey Brad that link to the mirrors on yahoo auctions you put up, they look like the real deal - can you confirm they're the same as your mirrors please?
Also are the mirrors on your adjustable, or set in one place?
they are real but auction ended, sold for 60k
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
Cool thanks, that's cheap for them right?
pending on how complete they are, seen some go for 30k and others go for 100k. all depends on how much the person wants them i guess. i bought mine seperate and added up to about 25k
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
PM Sent to keep this thread clean for Brad![]()
Hmm all good, on the mirrors the base is mount to the guard and can not move, the main body is held in place by a spring, and the mirror can move like a a normal mirror.
I always move the decimal 2 places to the left to give me a 'rough' idea, 30K / 30000 = $300ish
http://www.ozforex.com.au/currency-c...UD/30000/false
30K is $380

Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
74 model, KHGC110-005627
Looking forward to seeing this at a cruise - do you have any idea on what motor you're going to use?
I have a L24 on the engine stand which im cleaning up, new welsh plugs, water pump, thermosat and new paint(maybe polish rocker cover) with some new seals, for now this will go in. Just buy exhuast and triple webbers for it then drive it till it dies(not long with my track record) swap everythink over to a L28 then i think. I really want a jap exhaust so may import one for the look if i cant find something here close.
Haha yeah with your RB26 track record I'm not surprised you're staying away from them for a little while
So this kind of exhaust?
![]()
That's the same look I'm going to do, I know a couple of good places to get it done (one a shop, one a private person) so it looks like that but if you're staying L24/8 it would be more cost effective to bring in one from yahoo auctions. Mine needs to be twin 3'' (Using RB power) otherwise I'd offer getting two made at the same time
Yer thats the look i want, im sure if i took a pic of what i want to someone local they will hook me up.
Yer im staying old school for now untill i get bored i guess. A mate just built a 400kw Rb30(SOHC) for his VL then sold the car, so engine it is just sitting there lol.
How would this chassis deal with 400kw haha - that would be a wild ride
How will it handle 250-300kw from a stock RB26 probably not well, if i want RB i would put a half cage in like Kent had in it before.
Nope got a whole heap of parts, laying around. Tried to buy a R34 GTR last week and missed out so if sun comes out mite fit some of the parts i have.
Motor is ready to put in and see if it starts up.
still stock motor wasn't it?
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
Whoa whoa whoa - buying a 34? Details!! Will be good to see you in a GTR again!
Yer i got finance, found car then rung finance only to be told you have to pay a 30% deposit on imports lol. I mite get back into a GTR of some type when council lets me build a new garage.
What happen with your R32? i have a soft spot for RB32 and a T51R hahaha.
Anyways Yep still stock L24 that i cleaned up. Here are the new parts i need to fit up when i get a chance.
Still need to order some stuff off yahoo, my job is really short staffed right now and i seem to be working 6 days a week so time has been against me.
Brad
Ah cool cool, yeah you need another GTR - one day
32 is still here, so's the Supra. 32 made ok power with a 3.0L bottom on it (455rwkw), that engine is for the C110 and I've got a whole new engine coming for the 32. You'll see it around when it's finished, there's really no rush so it's just sort of moving along at its own pace. In the mean time it's great to see you getting through your C110 to pick up any small bits of info that may be needed for my one
What model is that radiator for?
Last edited by N1GTR; 01-29-2012 at 02:04 AM.
Radiator is for a 240z so see if it fits?
After i missed the R34 i almost rung up about this lol
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...1&sort=default
always had a soft spot for these wagons but had trouble fitting in the seats.
Oh they're nice, i've put heaps of K's on the model after that one (body shape after I mean), it had heaps of balls for a daily and the brakes were just huge - great car. Adz on here has probably driven that exact same car too.
Dont get the Audi just yet, you'll want a 34 every time you see one haha
I was just lookin at your pics and I saw the brass welsh plugs. I don't recommend using them in anything with an alloy head. (will cause corrosion problems long term). Stainless ones are the go and quite cheap.
Any how looks good so far. we need more 240K's on the road.
Look what I stumbled over tonight looking through an old picture album for the Sutton Rd thread for this year.....
![]()
Yer got some great pics of my GTR going down there and while having fun there.
I had some free time today so fit some stuff to motor and painted it....black cos it was laying around, after painting it black i was like now how will i find oil leaks lol.

the paint will seal some of them up anyway![]()
These dont leak![]()

Brad have you chosen a colour for the engine cover? The crinkle coat red ones look mega cool on white cars, not sure how it'd look on your pewter one?!
Couple of things learnt today, first and most important is always ask before buying lol. And here are the rest.
240k and 240z do not have the same door handles.
Ebay photos looked close
But different shape and size
C110 and C210 do not have the same door locks.
Look the same from the front
But from behind the they are different, i tried changing the backs over but they are different too.
Installing this required more skin then i liked lol
Also 240z pedal boxs are not the same as as 240k, but the 260c looked about right but was not able to strip this car of it.

Nar they where done buy the body shop.
A walk though on a Z tho
http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/...ere-zg-flares/
Was that rubber you used easy to get?
The body shop also got the rubber but looks just like the stuff in my link.
I have a manual pedal box from a R30 Skyline you could try and fit.
It's in Morisset and we are in Sydney. I could probably bring it down in two weeks.
Has anyone tried to fit a R30 box into a 240k?

Hi,
Can you explain to me how this works, if I used http://jessestreeter.com/

What is the process to get it to my door, and what are the extra cost over the purchase price

I agree with Kent,
I have always used http://www.importmonster.com.au/yahoo and never had a problem, once you register, it can then estimate all the charges delivered to your door. It's generally pretty accurate, if its slightly out, it will either ask you to pay the extra, or refund into your import monster account if you've overpaid. Pretty quick delivery times too.
just send him a email with tje link and he will qoute u

Kent the photos everyone wants to see is the car with Watanabe's but im worried about wasting 2800 on wheels that dont fit right(16*8.5-6 +16*9.5-19), you can always bring yours over so i can trail fit lol.
Also im in the middle of building a nice quad garage so i have room for some more projects![]()
Not much been happening, been getting mucked about by a Brake and clutch place.
But i have not like the radiator support being cut out so i have put it back in now.
![]()
Hi Mate,
I would but they are absolutely buried at the moment.. if only i had a quad garage!
if i get to dig them out soon i will let you know.. i think i got 16*8 (0 offset) and 16x8.5(-6 offset).. atleast the rears are what your after
i really should get some tyres and throw the wat's on the Z..
I am going to be moving back over your way soon though.. which means more time to work on the car and much more time to come up and see the old girl and the awesome work you've done.. extra incentive to dig the wheels out!

I'm in the same boat, I have a month to decide if I'm going to spend a lot of money on wheels,

Yer i have seen this but then i went and looked at ben from Otomoto's car, we have similar mods and he has Rota RB 17x8.5 + 0 and 17x9.5 -19 using a 20mm spacer on the rear.

I have been thinking i may go 15s of late with a bigger width and offset rear.
Hmmm so i got some nice pics today before the rain,
Also a good day to fit the windows(could not get a new rear window)

I'm curious on the fuel filler cover and air vent cover to convert to G.T.R spec, I've never seen those before, I've only seen the complete fuel filler or vent
cover for sale. Are they repos or original, and were they expensive? I'd need a set as well.
I the dash cover from rubbersoul, it cost around 7000yen
FYI its in the orginals section not the interior.
http://translate.google.com/translat...ou.htm&act=url
The fuel filler/air vent covers from Cityauto and are 9130yen

Think the standard ones will need a little moding to fit these.
They are not scratched just have a plastic over them.

mmmm anyone wants to set up a group buy..
I think you'd remove the originals Brad, they pop out pretty easily, check the pictures I posted.
I'd be in for a group buy, if someone will help with shipping to the United States after the parts arrive.
