    Default Front Spoilers

Hey guys, I'm looking at all kinds of styles of front spoilers for my 260...wondering about members who have one on their car, the different styles, suppliers etc We could make a nice little listing for members to go and visit...if u have an aftermarket bar (including an aftermarket G-nose) then post a message with the details; ie Quality of construction, price, ease of fitment, supplier service quality, location and finally some pics so we can ogle them!!

    What do you think mike?

    Cheers ppl!!!

mines a pretty common front spoiler in australia, they are a bit fiddly to fit and need some bracing, but easy enough to paint. its made of a pretty thin fibreglass. most aftermarket spoiler places have them. i got mine from fibre sports in taren point, sydney for about 150 bucks i think. have a look at my avatar

I know a guy here in Brisbane who has been knocking out some varieties of front spoilers.

He has also posted on this site earlier under the handle of BBALLS.

Might be worth giving him a call as he has listed his mobile. I am intending to buy one of his spoilers.

    Spending too much again!

I have a fibresports front spoiler as well.
got it a few weeks ago and have yet to fit it.

Quality seems reasonable and everything lines up ok thus far.

I bought it because I couldnt find any other style!
I also purchased it for 150 dollars from a wholesaler.

What sort of bracing do these spoilers need brett240?

    Default Good to see guys!

Thanks for replying guys..hopefully after a while we will be able to garner as much info on the Z car as we can..including all of the aftermarket accessoy styles, prices, quality etc...

Keep it up guys...I'm hoping for at least 20!!!

PS If you could name the supplier and their phone #, then casual observers can refer to them with ease! (especially if its overseas!).

    Cheers ppl!

Spook style spoiler (with or without vents):
Dont know why its called that, i'm just following the herd.

then there is the aussie spoiler that was mentioned, though i believe it is a copy of a front spoiler from what i know as the californian z body kit (the one with the fg rear wide body arches).

    widely available in australia

    TRS,

the spoiler only is bolted at the outsides of the car and there is no support in the middle, at high speed without bracing the spoiler will bend and eventually crack. i used two flat aluminium pieces, bent them into shape and bolted them on the inside bottom of the spoiler and then back to the original valence, this works fine.

But the question I have is which construction material is better, fiberglass or poly?

i have the motorsport airdamn (urethane) on my 78 with the brake ducts.. i like it, made a world of difference at 90mph..

here's the story about how the 'spook' got it's name....

way back in the day, when BRE racing first got ahold of the Z's, they all noticed the front end lift too, and some other aerodynamic tendancies of the car. but, back then, there was a rule that in the class they were running, they couldn't use any front mounted aerodynamic modifiers. so, to bend the rules, they made that little chin spoiler thing and cut holes in it. they ran ducting to the brakes. to justify its placement, they said it was simply to cool the brakes, and that was it's sole purpose. they also didn't call it an airdam (which they knew it really was..), they called it a spook!

    Default Great Color

    dozer,

From what I can see where the light is hitting the car in the garage that is a great looking color! Do you have another pic of the car in full light so I can get a better look at it?

Hi Brett. Is that your car in your avatar? When I started looking for a Z I found that picture somewhere on the net and it was my background for about 3 weeks. Thought you'd like to know

Nice spoiler by the way. I was looking for one exactly the same as yours for a while there but the bare look grew on me. I still might get one one day though.

    Hey man,

Here's my new front Kit on my '75 260z.. Had it made by a connection here in Melb, so if you like it i can pass on the details to you!

cost me about $160 for the kit, it's fibreglass.. was pretty good quality and was fairly easy to put on (i didnt need any instructions to figure out what went where..)

and most importantly.. it looks like a part of the car.. not something bolted on! Mostly because you remove the whole front valance to put the dang thing on! hehe

    pic..

    Cheers

yeah, she fit up pretty easy!

only weird thing was lining up the kit with the body and drilling the holes through the kit for mounting..

everythings very straight forwards though, not tricky at all.. bit of time involved to do it right.. but compared to a majority of kits its very easy.

I'll msg the details to you when I access my home computer where I've got them (im at work atm.. cant you tell? hehe)
