Hi,
We buy most RHD dash frames from wrecking yards for A$30 - A$50 each, however, LHD are difficult to locate here in OZ so it is a matter of how much a seller want's v's how much we are prepared to pay. Jim
You can have my spare RHD 260 frame for 30 bucks, in fact if you can take it and use it its yours, shipping from South Aust to you could suck? Any other members want it?
Thanks Mate but we are looking for LHD's. Thanks anyway.

Is that one of the two 240Z frames? Jim

I have a dash from a early '70 240 it has two hairline cracks on the top from the dash across and down to area next to the tack and another the same that is next to the clock . In the recess in front of the amp meter there is a hole with some of the foam missing , it is about the size of a neckel.
Thanks kmack and beandip - It looks like we have secured an early series 1 240Z however, we still need a series 2 240 and a 260 if anyone has those. Jim![]()
Jim,
If it helps, it's my understanding that the early Series I dash is all but identical to the Series II dash. The only difference being the cut-out for the cigarette lighter. Which, on the Series I dash, the indentation is already there. FWIW...

I have learned to preface these types of conversations with "my part" because I am finding that not all Datsun parts are the same - exactly the same.
"My" series 1 dash frame has a rectangular cutout in the are of the indentations for the hazard switch, mystery, and later cigarette lighter. The foam in that area is rather thick. Screwed to the dash frame, set in to the rectangular cutout, is a stepped metal frame insert with mounting tabs. The insert forms the inside face of the indent and has cutouts for the switch shaft. It is the inside plate / frame that the mounting nut and washer snug up to. The mounting tabs are for screws in to the dash frame itself, and perhaps the foam.
Perhaps this is the only difference between the two series 240. the 260 / 280 is out of my age bracket. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guy's - It seems the actual "frame" for the 240 is the same for series 1 and 2 however the pad's are differant. That ain't a problem for restoring the pad's as we restore strictly to the pad specification and really use the frame to ensure we allow for pad shrinkage.
All we need now is a 260Z frame if anyone has one?????
