man the ladies can be so effed. No offense to any on the site, however my 4 year live in GF that I was completely secure and under the impression that we were to marry has just ended things between us and is now dating the guitarist from a band that I was the archivist for....for over a year and a half!
even more efffed is that we are tied in a lease together until march![]()

PS, You can always "RENT" one if you find that you REALLY "NEED" one. More fun, Less Hassles. What a concept!
PS: Sorry to hear the bad news St. Stephen
I can sympathise, I've recently been pushed aside by my GF of 3 years, we purchased a car together but I let her keep it, even though I love it, I have 2 cars, didn't make much sense to have a third when she needed one. I miss Nessie, the 1976 Ford Escort MkII, 2 Door.

I believe those "rental agreements" could possibly leave you in more trouble than they are worth in the long run....![]()

More grief than St. Stephen has on his plate?
Just like the "permanent" arrangements, ya gotta be selective. The lower the rental fee, the more risk you take.

My first car was a 1978 Chrysler Avenger, cost me $300 1600cc automatic, didn't care about the auto because it was only $300, i used to get in the car by running over the roof, if I was on the passenger side that is. Bit of a silly thing to do but .. I was younger then.![]()
All I can say guys is make sure that you pay attention to little things that matter to a girl in a relationship. Send her flowers, leave her little notes, and never not tell her how you feel about her and how she makes you feel. Don;t get all caught up in the big picture and let things slide. It really makes a differance.
unfortunately we work together and her new man sent her roses and now she has them on her desk. Talk about salt in the wound.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune St.Stephen. Fortunately, time will heal that giant gash in your heart. But let's focus on the positive side of it all (Yea, easier said than done right now), think of all the time you will have now to work on your true love, your Z. Plus you will probably now have a better cash supply for more important things, like Z car parts!!! Stay strong and look forward. Remember..."Every cloud has a silver lining".
P.S. Let it all out...."That f---ing, b--ch, c--t" Now don't you feel better now?
The great B.B. King said it best."It's a shame lifes best lessons have to hurt so bad." Try this,Recall the events in your life that seemed to be what you thought of as the worst.Odds what was then viewed as a big negative is now viewed as a positive. The author Napoleon Hill calls that the "seed of equilivent benefit".Your negative seed has been planted. In time a positive will grow. It's hard but be kind.Anger will only confirm her decision and if you're not happy with yourself how can you expect anyone to be happy with you.
Sooooo, what's keepng YOU from sending her flowers? Ad what does "effed" mean?
Think about words that start with the letter "eff" (pronounce it), and end in "ed".Originally posted by TKR514

You should NEVER trust anything that bleeds for a week and doesnt die...Or atleast I have been told. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for the kinds words everyone and it really is a tough situation for everyone involved. I would love to send her flowers however I have to respect the fact that she has someone else in her life now and she is big on that. I need to let some time pass before I can begin that friendly gesture because she may feel funny about me doing that.
This is a hard situation to handle because we are still living together and will be for a little bit. Things will work out for whatever the best situation is for us. I have though been pounding the pavement in the garage and tearing it up. The battery well is just about done. I need to grind the welds and clean everything up then its on to the passenger floor support and where the hole is in the firewall for the harness. Once the welding is done, its time to put all the freshly sandblasted and painted parts on the car and start getting her ready for paint and such and get the interior back in. The pics are in the gallery!
She's the one who's gonna lose in the end. You know those band guys. Not well known for the way they treat women. Stop blaming yourself about not sending flowers and go get a better chick.
Stuff getting another girlfiend lads - spend more cash on the car and pic up chicks with that! You then got a double bonus - Nice car, with nice chicks in it!

I feel for you mate.
Don't be down on your self about the flowers thing. Bloody hell you moved in with her and signed a long term lease, surely that counts for more than flowers.
My two cents worth is that you need to get away from her, this living together-working together situation can't be doing you any good. You have to do the right thing by yourself.
My advice although i'm only young is to get on with your life ASAP. or at least show her you are, don't let her see that things are bringing you down if they are.
Now is a great time to never be home, do something with friends work on the car whatever, your a guy who's going somewhere not some band jocket who can string a song together hehe.
It also can't hurt to start seeing new women even if they are just friends.
Before you seek another relationship, maybe.................

St Stephen, that really sucks.
I agree, go on with life as if it were just another day. You never find the good ones by looking, they just sorta find you.
But yeah working together really wouldnt help, and seeing the progress of the new relationship would hurt, bad.
Good luck mate

That was 6 years ago, and I havent trusted one since. Haven't talked to her in as long either and dont really want to.
The ones I like dont like me, and the ones that like me are too young.
At least I get to stay out in the garage till 3 am and dont have anyone naggin me to come in the house.
I agree with the good ones finding you, but trust me, you gotta make some sort of effort. They dont find you all that often. especially if you spend all your time out in the garage.
St. Stephen;
Give a shout if you 'just gotta get out' or the house gets too crowded.. you're welcome to swing by. We could gather the troops and head out to Matrix Reloaded and beer... mmmm beer.
Since you mentioned your battery well, mine is on its way.. in fact, not just the well, but the whole front end. I had a donor quartered. Arriving will be the pass side from the firewall forward, the driver side pass floor and the driver side firewall forward.
I'll be cutting out the battery well and frame rails (or larger sections) to clip to my front end.

Kick the girl out, now!
I don't get it. You never got really married. Now you never really broke up since she's still living with you. Kinda unusual...
St. Stephen's original post indicated that they were tied to a lease for some time. I suspect that it means that either BOTH names are on that lease and/or TWO incomes are needed to pay the rent and living expenses.Originally posted by TKR514

I did not know that you could sign long-term paper together if you were not married....
Sympathy for living together unmarried and signing financial agreements together? Sorry....
Nah, I'm a realist.
There is a reason that things work like they do.
Marriage is a contract that spells out legal obligation.
Obligations during the marriage AND in the case of a break-up.
The moral issues of such an "arrangement" are his concern...not mine![]()
If you can't show some sympathy for your fellow man.........perhaps this isn't a thread you should follow.

The title of the thread is "Chicks are effed".
So, "sympathy" would be to join in and say how bad chicks are?
No thanks.
I would say that St. Steven is the one that has no sympathy for his fellow Man (er, woman) with a thread title like that.

TKR514,
If you really think a wedding ring or a piece of paper would have necessarily stopped it happening, then perhaps you need to look around you a bit more.
Last I knew being married didn't stop breakups or misgivings, and you also think any longterm agreement of a financial nature should only be able to be signed by married couples?![]()
I think you'll find most people have sympathy as they've been through similar situations, if you don't have sympathy for his financial predicament perhaps you have some for the fact his partner, whom he thought he would become married to in due course has left him and is now with someone else.
If not then I don't see the point in attempting to state moral highgrounds.
Of course a piece of paper keeps people together!
Hell, they are still together because of a piece of paper called a lease. It's not morals, it's not love, it's just a piece of paper that keeps them living together...
It's not any kind of moral judgement, just an observation.

One thing about a democracy mates, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and I'm certain every one of us is quite prepared to fight to ensure it stays that way.
My sympathies go out to St Stephen. I can't say I know how you feel because I've not been in that situation. I've been truly blessed with a loving and loyal wife for over 36 years.
However, I must point out that there ARE two sides to every story.

I must admit, although I am very sorry for St. Stephen, my "chick" is definately not "effed", and we have been very happyfor the past 26 years of being together, almost 19 of which were married years (she was only 14 when we started dating!)
I fully expect that there are plenty of threads on other (totally unknown to me) sites with titles like "guys are effed". Relationships can be hosed from either side.

Wow I started quite a thread with this one. let me finish getting through the replies and I can enlighten everyone on what took place.
Also, yes we are still living together because we are tied to a lease until march. soooo, I have to either find a roomate or she has to leave and continue to pay beacuse I dont thing that I can swing the whole place myself without having to drink tap water and eat ramon noodles morning noon and night. Although that might be better than what I am having to deal with now.
St Stephen
One upside of having the place to yourself is that you have a nice warm workshop to undertake any work on the z. ( Like - inside the house!!!). Is this enough to offset the lack of food?![]()
Andrew
Wow this was an old thread to come across =). Oddly enough after reading it again I am still in the same house, not only still have the car.....but 3 others (2 74's one early and one late...and a 78) and a large cache of parts, 18 motorcycles and 6 snowmobiles. I've been with my current lady now over 8 years now. My does time fly!
well... what happened to the gf that went for the rock star? did he get her hooked on
heroin and is in and out of rehab?
congrats on the 8 years. looks like you learned an important lesson.

lol....That didn't quite happen. They ended up getting married and now currently have two kids. I see his band still plays out now and again. Seems to have worked out for everyone in the long run but yes that was certainly a life lesson indeed.
