Not bad. I had a "How many mpg" thread a while ago. People pulling off nearer to 30mpg is pretty crazy for a motor designed 35+ years ago with carbs and a 4-Speed, compared to FI, full saving sensors everywhere in todays motors with the same liters. Crazy that it also gets roughly the same hp and torque of todays motors.

City isn't too pretty though and acts like a V8 or just something twice as big.

Recently completed 275 mile highway trip using 41.8L which represents 29mpg Imperial or 25 mpg US. This is on a stock FI 77 280z coupe with an '83 5 speed and 3.90 differential. Except for a few slowdowns, the typical speeds were 70-80 mph on 400 series highways and 50 mph on secondary cottage country roads.

Went to the MSA Z Nationals in California last year, and averaged over 28 MPG At the time I had the following (original motor, 160,000+ miles, S.U's, 6-into-1 header, and ZX ignition (E12-80), Stage 2 cam (480/280) 2 1/2" exhaust.)

That was a 2400 mile round trip.

There was a thread about this same subject a while back. Seems that the best averages for the 240's were 26-28mpg. My '71 does best @90mph which yields 28mpg. In the city 16mpg can be counted on.
