May I suggest not just posting the year, but also the build date, and (in the case of engine compartment decals) which transmission your car originally came with. Some emissions stickers vary by build date, not just year.
I went through the archives and tried to find a thread that had nothing but pictures of all the original decals for our Z cars and could not find one thread for that topic. Unfortunatly I do not have any original decals to share but would like to have a link that would referrence all the pictures.
1) Please post what you have so we can have one location for nothing but original decals and placements. If your decal's are not original please do not post your picture. This will be excellent for future reference to see the correct color - font - size - shape - and so forth......again, if it's not orginal please do not post.
2) Please reference the correct placement so we know how they came originally.
3) Please also post the year of your Z car so we know if a placement changed over the years or a particular font or color style.
Thanks for the assist!![]()

How about these inspection decals stamped by Mr. or Ms. "Hoshino" under the trunk carpet on 12/1971 240Z.[/QUOTE]

These are what real OK inspection decals SHOULD look like. I have not seen an accurate reproduction yet that aligns the text under the "OK" on the left side, as it should be. Apparently that is a small detail to some. No matter what the sellers claim or where they are printed (like that somehow matters?) they all look like copies of the same bad reproduction. The earlier OK stickers (as found on 240Zs) seem to be wider than those on later cars (like the 280z or zx). The first two pictures are from one of my 11/69 cars. The third is from a 1972. The last two are from later cars, not sure of the years.

How about a vendor hat can supply a lot of decals for your resto?
Norm in Vancouver seems to have quite a bit of good stuff and he is fairly priced...he also has ID plates and a ot of other stuff.

So does Mike: http://www.zzxdatsun.com/catDecals.php
He does add a word of caution on his site:

They look great...I will say that I had some decals from Norm at Zeddsaver in Vancouver for my black '72. The aircleaner decals were spot on so i wouldn't hesitate to buy anything else from him. It's also easier when you live in Canada to deal in Canada to reduce cost, shipping etc.
I have no reason to believe any of these aren't original.

i just received my shipment of a few decals from Mike at Banzai Motorworks. The quality is great.
Could somebody please post the placement of the following decals on a Series 1, built around December '70:
1) Air filter housing decals, set of 4 including the Large silver one with the schematic of the carbs, the Snorkel Tube Frost Control Valve decal, the Service Instruction decal and the Winter/Summer Flap decal.
2) Valve Cover - the P-2 valve cover decal
3) Dashboard - hazard switch on/off decal
Also, could someone take a picture their position of their Engine Compartment convenience light.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have the picture of the decal that goes on the driver's side door, next to the 2 screws? Like in the picture below (that I found of ebay).

Hey Tony - Here are the pre-restore shots from my air filter box. The decals are shot but the placement is clear. Note that it does not have the silver decal for adjusting the carb screws, just 2 of the 3 big ones in the Banzai DE-04 set. By the way, I purchased the set from Mike, they are fantastic - as are all his products.

Here is a picture of a (new and genuine) spark plug decal found on the rear, right hand side of the rocker cover (at least on UK cars)
Alright maybe it's not a Nissan decal, I was just curious because on my door (pictured below) there was remnants of a sticker. At the top there's lettering I can only make out what looks like "T-UN". Looking at it again, the one on my door seems longer than the one I posted. It's a long shot but I will ask the guy on ebay if he could send me a better picture, I was just curious thats all.

First picture is of more of a detail than a decal from an underhood inspection lamp (26410-E4101). Second picture is a late model (1977 260Z) antifreeze decal (different from the one posted earlier in this thread by g9m3c). Final picture is from of a later style jack (post 09/74).
Here are a couple I have on my 11/75 - 1976 - 280Z.
First one is from the bumper struts.
Second one is from the top of the carbon filter canister. Notice it says carb and I have fuel injected! The Carb is blocked off.
Photographed them while cleaning and repainting the engine area and front suspension parts.

There is a small rectangular foil type sticker on the main tube of the steering rack. Mine was too far gone to read and was almost completely peeled off. It looks like it had numbers on it. (240Z rack, unsure of year model)

Good to link to other efforts.
Decoy...I think the decal from the Ebay photo is a gas station servicing decal from the '70s. I had the remains of one on my drivers door from a Union 76 station in Calif...same size as your decal.

I have a late 1971 (series II) with a build date of 8/71. My original Emissions Decal on the underside of the hood is different than the reproduction 1971 Emissions Decals available from Motorsport and and other sources. First, it is definitely gold in color, while all of the reproduction 1971 decals I've seen are silver. Also, the writing on it seems to be a mix between the writing on the reproduction 1971s and the reproduction 1972s available from Motorsport. I know the car was delivered to and purchased at a California dealership -- this could definitely explain the existence of the California-specific language in the original.
Have others found that their original 1971 Emissions Decals were gold instead of silver? Anyone have any idea if a reproduction decal like the original from my car for a 1971 is available?
Also, my car had the California emissions decal in the driver's side quarter window like that posted by rtaylor earlier in this thread.
Perhaps it was silver originally and age made it turn a goldish hue. Happens often with decals.

I thought about that, but the gold is pretty uniform -- much more uniform than I would expect from fading/color change. Also, it doesn't explain why the text of the decal is different from the reproductions.
Here are pics of the Motorsport repros for a 1971 and a 1972. The text of my decal is not identical to either of these. It's actually kind of a cross between the 71 and the 72. The part number at the bottom of the 72 is close to mine, but not exact. The color definitely matches the 72 better though.
Mine (7/71 build date) is also gold. Pretty certain it was always gold, doesn't look like an age thing. Can't recall what it says, and I didn't drive it to work today, so I'll have to take a look at it later tonight.
Dan, they are reproductions that I made. I sent you a PM about this.
My car was purhased in Sacramento originally. I have the same decal. It is original. It is silver though. I posted a picture of it above.

I found this decal for the second time, the first time I didn't have anyway to take a picture. This time I had my phone... but since it's an old phone please excuse the bad quality. It's a "Spark Plug Instructions" decal on the the valve cover (passenger side) probably above piston #5, written in English, German, and French respectively... saw it on a 280z, but with parts replaced I am not sure if they were original to the 280z.

Was there a spark plug decal on 1972 240Z's in the US? I stumbled upon a valve cover with the decal and was able to remove it without destroying it. The car was stripped in a salvage yard and I believe a newer model but it caught my attention. Any advise on if they came on May 1972 cars would be great.
Oh and mine is in a couple a gauges English included.
Here is a harness tag of Z432.
E4200 stands for Z432.
This kind of tag has never been reproduced,
so I need to take this off then I put this on a
Newly fabricated harness .
It is interesting to see the date on the tag which is
matching the built date of the car.

Welcome to my web site,

What year was this decal on the valve cover? I salvaged one from a Newer model Z at a salvage yard in central IL but have not placed it on my 05/72 240Z as I have heard mixed things about the decal whether it was used my cars year or not.
