I just got my 240Z this past summer and would love to meet local classic Z guys. I'm in the Heights and can meet anytime.

I have been reading these boards for a while now, and noticed several of our members are located in or near Houston Texas. I would like us to get together or at least get a call list so we can ask questions, lend a hand, etc.
Can we get a shout out of local classic Z guys.

I have an interest, but lately I am out of the country a lot. If I am home, I'll try to participate. I'd love to ride in another Z just to be able to compare against mine which is a work in progress. I really have enjoyed working on mine, willing to help out others if they need help.

I would be interested as well. Need to finish my bushing install and front brake upgrade first.
Potential resident shout out, I might be moving to Houston in January. If so i look forward!

I am trying to get a place that is easy to find and not 70 miles for people to drive.
One Idea I had was to meet on the first sunday of the month at Gulf Greyhound Park. Now this idea has pros and cons.
Pros, huge parking lot to sit and talk, autocross will be going on that we can either participate in or just watch and heckle
Cons, VERY far for frank and others, not really fair to ask them to drive that far, we would have to eat before or after we meet, as its just a big parking lot, but there is food around it.
I think something close to the freeway may be better, any suggestions.
I know some of you are part of the Houston Z club, and they are a great organization, but this is something FAR more casual. I just want to meet you guys! Talk compare war stories, and share knowledge. I do not want officers, dues, I do not want to ask for volunteers, or help. I just want to get to know guys around me with similar interests.
If you guys can think of someplace to meet, I think we should try after the holidays.
I know one more guy who can come who has a 260Z, Kirk I am talking to you!!

I have some suggestions, maybe the Galleria area @ either Uptown Park (cars & coffee) or starbucks @westheimer and post oak. They are both right off 610. Another location I can think of is the parking lot of corner bakery and CVS @ 59 and Kirby.

New guy here, I would like to come to look at some cars, sts and generally hang out. I am at 249 and Louetta - 5 miles north of Willowbrook and 8 miles south of Tomball. My Z is a non-runner. See "Welcome to the Forum": http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=36833

Hello everyone,
I think that would be great!
I know that there is a way to create a regional grouping of members on this site, I just do not know how to go about it. At the same time I do not want to exclude the many contacts from all over (e.g. Europe, Australia, ...).
If you know about St. Arnolds Brewery, that would be a fun place to gather.
This spring, I will be putting together a Z Car Clinic at my brothers business (Humble AAMCO in Humble, Tx). I will be getting an invite out to my Houston Z Car Club Bro's and Classic ZCC. It will be a day we can use the lifts, work on our Z's, trade stuff, fire up the BBQ and get to know each other. Hopefully I will have my Z back from paint, and at least reassembled enough to make her road worthy.
FANTASTIC response guys! Okay, update:

Okay, its the end of holidays, and I think its time we all planned for a casual meet and greet. I am going to try to settle on a place in the next couple of days that is car friendly, good food at a reasonable price, where we can sit and talk and blab on and on about our Z obsession.

Okay, upon review, I really like the UPTOWN PARK area recommended by wbsupernatural.
I like this for several reasons:
1) It is located centrally and is not to far for those of us to the north, south and west.
2) It is right off the 610, which is easy to find and get in and out
3) Coffee and Cars is held there the first Saturday of every month, so it is a known car friendly place with food and drink near by. Our meet can coincide with Coffee and Cars or it can be another day.

Uptown Park works for me.
Floorboard rust areas are all fixed and POR-15 applied to the floorboards and transmission tunnel. Removing the tar paper on the floors and transmission tunnel was the most fun I've had in years!
With all the interior trim and carpet out, I've been applying Quietcar soundproofing (by brush) to virtually every interior piece of sheet metal, including floors, transmission tunnel, firewall, under the windshield around the defroster vents, rocker panels, doors, around the quarter windows, behind the speakers (as far I can reach), hatch riser, under the rear deck, spare tire well, behind the antenna, rear panel around the taillights and inside the hatch (behind the vinyl finisher).
Three coats so far and I'm planning on two more this week before replacing the rubber plugs, heater control vacuum valve/hoses, replacing the deteroriated foam insulation in the A/C and blower housings, re-installing the dash (all gauges cleaned and fitted with brighter bulbs), installing the new carpet kit from Chester & Herod and re-installing the seat belts, interior trim and console.
Bolt in the seats and she should be good to go. So, barring any unforeseen events, anytime after next weekend should be good for me.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! Can't wait to see your cars too!!
Okay, judging by what I have so far, lets shoot for January 23rd at the uptown location starbucks, at around 11am. I have no issues drinking coffee around noon -![]()

I really do not have a head count guys. Lots of interest, but nothing official. Its tough to get a feel for how successful these things are going to be. But if I get to meet one of my local Houston area Z buddies, I will consider it a huge success!
What I would like to do is meet everyone, put a face to a name, and get a list of email addresses and phone numbers. I have sort of already started this, but its incomplete.
That way I can email out all the names phone numbers, etc of folks, and what model car they have. In the end, it would be great for us to have a contact list of people with like year cars to ask questions, get advice, share tools and knowledge. Sometimes, you just wonder if a part is right or wrong and would like another 240/260/280 to ask about. I think we can all help one another out.
Look forward to seeing you guys there. Hope parking is okay.

Holy CRAP. What a bunch of nice cars! And very nice folks!!! I wanted to ask everybody tons of questions on their car but I could not get to everyone. The folks I did get to prolly warned the others to run and hide! I have not seen that many Z's in one spot EVER! Even at dealerships back in the early '70's. (You had to wait in line back then for the next one that came in!)
240's and 280's. Mine and Lon's early 260's are in their respective garage's and one other guy's car had a problem getting there. Once again circumstances prove my view that the 260's ARE the bastards of the bunch.
And a real nice silver Turbo ZX that left before I could really look at it.
I am jealous of everyone's car's front frame rails. Nary a spot of rust on any of them!
I was so excited when I came home, I could not take my doctor-ordered nap! Even my wife was enthusiastic. She especially loved Mikes burgandy '78 with A/C. She thought that Frank from the Woodlands car belonged on a race track until she found out it had A/C also. See the theme here for her - must have A/C. Well, mine aint gonna have it - never did. And, I aint gonna get another Z because I dont have enough room as it is which means that I would have to sell one of my old Hemi's. But, I digress.
Hopefully, I will be working on getting my motor running in the next couple of weeks. Its soaking with some ATF on the pistons. While I am waiting, I will drop the gas tank and see whats up with it. Based on all of my internet searches, I am pretty sure that I have a perforated pick up tube. While I am pondering the gas tank situation, I will try to start the car with a spare motorcycle tank provided it aint locked up. I have a contingency for that - I picked up a '78 280Z motor yesterday that came out of a running car that just had a LS1 conversion. Really nice orange car done in a shop up here on 1960 and Jones. Jsomething Power Motor sports or something like that. Jeremy is the owner. He says that Z's are not his primary work, but he now has 3 more customer's Z's sitting there for conversions. He must be doing something right and hopefuly his word about the motor is also good. But, I really hope that I dont need it!
Once again thanks to everyone and especially Zenobi for getting the get-together together!

A very nice time indeed!
It was great to meet everybody - what a super group of folks. And what a BEAUTIFUL sight seeing that lineup of Z cars. Can't wait to see the photos.
Let's do it again. I'm looking forward to meeting those who weren't able to make it this time and seeing some 260Z's in the lineup!
Thanks Stephen for setting this up!
It was a jolly good time, wasn't it? The weather cooperated nicely. The gendarmes didn't mess with us at all. I do think we were outnumbered by Porsches and Ferraris but it's quality that counts.
Stephen, your Z has come a long way since I first saw it at the GT-R rollout at Baker Jackson last year. You've truly done a remarkable job.
Walt, my brother by another mother, your 280 was stunning. And it looks great zipping down the freeway, too.
Glad to have met Quang, Phil, Mike, Tony. And Jay, of course, the other old fart besides me that drives a Z.
We missed a couple of guys due to blow-outs and delayed basketball games, but they'll be there, along with a lot more the next time.
Thanks to Stephen (Zedyone) for putting this together. Nice venue, nice cars, great people. When's the next one?

I want to first sincerely thank everybody for coming out. It was a pleasure to meet you, some for the first time, and others it was great to shake your hands again. What a great day. I good friend Kirk, did not make it due to a tire issue, but he was there in spirit. Missed you Kirk.
Everybodies car was just beautiful. We had a wide range of folks, from the student who has great taste in cars, wbsupernatural, to the Veteran racer, Frank. All the cars were each beautiful with a story to be told. I learned of new places to get my Z worked on, and got some good advice from folks who have been there and done that. I will be consolidating the
email addresses and notes I received and I will get those out ASAP.

Stephen:
Hey I am sorry I missed it in more ways than one! First was the fun of getting off 59 at Weslayan not 3 miles form you guys with a damn blowout on tires that have 500 miles on them.
Frank - some other old farts were sitting on the side of the road - Grrrrrr! I did get those Mikuni trips - but alas they are not on.
You guys cars look great. Steve's is the really the bomb - but hey I got more stuff to work on over here! I look forward to seeing ya'll next time!
Lesons I learned
First - do not have have a blowout. Never let anyone put Chinese tires on your car. ( They were new on the car when I got it - and I said I was going to change them and the rims ALREADY.)
Second - see #1 above and especially on a Houston freeway. I got off to the exit when it let go at about 75 mph ( running late you know) but NO Way was I going to the shoulder on 59. Here is to all the butt-tards that ran right into the back of me, zipped by and flipped me off with my flashers on! I hope I see them one day in my TRUCK.
Third - Never used AAA Auto in 25 years. Came right away with a first class truck and driver! Said 2 hours but was there in 30 minutes!
Fourth - Never go to tire store (which was three blocks away) on Saturday. It only took three hours - but hey it could have been worse. Thanks to Andrew for getting me on the way and doing a bang up job at Discout Tire Kirrby!!
And a funny story to leave you with.
After waiting about 20 minutes to get to the sales guy we walk out and he measures the tires etc. New Huh - well yes but no matter. Go back inside.
He asks - Make of car?
Me - Datsun.
Him - Mileage, year, etc
Me - 125,775, 1974, yada yada
He works on screen.
Him - Who made the car?
Me - Datsun.
Him - I am SURE that DATSUN made their OWN car, right?? (very sarcastic)
Me - Why yes! They sure did. Thats why it says DATSUN on the car! (very nicely - but I was starting to boil)
Him- I am sure THEY did not make that car as it IS NOT in the COMPUTER.
Me - Well a bit later they became something you and computer might know - Nissan Motor Co. But it DONT MATTER PAL - just get me a 205-60-15 and slap it on. OK?
Him - Ok - but it will be three hours.
Me- Uhhh - Ok.
What else was I going to do - leave!

My bad, it being a vanity plate I figured it would be cool. That and it was the only way I could identify it, but it was clean just like Zedys'.
Interesting, check out the Google Maps Street View of Gary's. I got curious, because I used to live in Dallas, and looked it up:

The car was there several years ago whenever the Google Prius cruised on by, so I'm guessing it's owned by someone who works there.
Looks like a 280Z though.

Yeah! We need to have a pre-ZCON meet.
Lets find a place where we can sit and sip coffee, whilst gazing at the cars. Do we need to hire a bull**** remover????

Nope, it was a 240. Had the thin bumpers and all the other stuff. Can't see the google maps on my phone here but i did get poor quality camera phone pic. Another meet sounds great. What would make a good bull**** remover?![]()
I'm in for a meet up. My car is in the paint shop right now but I am looking forward to seeing the other rides in the area and meeting you guys.

Here's an idea...
The first Sunday of every month, The Woodlands Car Club hosts a Cars and Coffee for a Cause meet 'n greet at Market Street in The Woodlands from 10:00 'til noon. Last meet, tons of new Camaros showed up, along with the requisite number of 'Vettes, 'Stangs, etc. Robert O and I had the only imports there.
Whaddya say we "flood" the event with Z cars? We've got ample space to hold a total of 80 or so total cars and Robert and I have sufficient "pull" with the PTB to get us all parked together.
I understand it's a haul for a bunch of us, so whatever you think is fine w/me. Just a thought.

Thats a great idea! And it's for a good cause! How does a July date sound for that?
Franks just wants to show off those choice new wheels! haha...
The woodlands is a bit of a haul for us around Kemah and Webster, but I know the area is very nice.
Lets keep planning. coffee and cars at our last location was pretty easy to find and get to. I like the idea of sipping coffee and talking cars!
