You are correct, 78 was the last year of the 280z. Maybe it is a 280z with a after market sunroof. 79 thru 83 were known as 280zx.
Im trying the get into a Z as a project car. There is this car for sell locally and the owner advertise it as a 1980 280z with T-top.
As far as i know (google search), there is no 280z after 1978.
I called him and make sure that the car is a 280z not a 280zx. And he replied that it is a 280z.
So is there a 1980 280z with T-top?
Thanks all.

If you really need to be convinced go take a look at the sticker on the door jam. It will tell you build month and year. Also as SBLAKE01 so eloquently stated it is a ZX and not a Z, but no need to get hung up on technicalities just go take a look.

Mike -- Interesting. Ya' learn something new everyday.
My last three sports cars while I still owned all three:
2001 BMW Z3 Roadster 3.0i soft/hard top (sold)
1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (sold)
1978 Datsun 280Z (enjoying very much)
I had all of those wheels on my 280Z at one time or another. Swastikas, Iron Crosses, Turbo wheels, and I finally put the so called Black Pearl wheels back on it.

Definately ZX. In NZ that is. Check parts availability before buying this car.
Brian.
That's a ZX here too.

It looks like a parts car to me. I hope the owner is asking well under a grand.
If you're hot for a 280ZX, contact Frank, aka Palladin, over at Zcar.com. He recently bought a California car and drove it back to Tennessee. You will probably get a lot more bang for the buck that way FWIW.

If it has T-Tops then it would not be a 280Z unless it was modified, this would be a 280ZX and yes they did have t-tops in 1980...I have one for sale myself.
