    Looking forward to seeing everyone..

Below 90 degrees? That takes all of the fun out of the drive, Carl.

Some members of the TZCCVA are heading south Sunday morning around 9AM. That should get us there by dinner time assuming no issues with my 240Z (everyone else is towing or driving newer vehicles). Spare parts and tools should keep the gremlins at bay. It's going to be a blast! of course, it's suppose to T-storm all F'ing week (50%). Being on the Atlantic Coast means that can change in mere minutes though.

Yeah, I was going through my parts bin Monday night thinking that I should pack some spares: radiator hoses, spark plugs, rotor, cap, ignition module, electrical supplies, etc. Ah, the joys of driving older cars...

Besides Jeff Mader, Brad Robertson (green '70 that tears up the Dragon) is flying down, Bill Moreau, 1st place winner in 280 Street mod along with Pete Sanders (Z-Ya) and I will be coming down from New England. Pete and I will be dragging our 240 race car and hope to do the trip in one long push (902 miles), on Monday.

We'll have some nice parts for sale as well.

And, if you haven't heard, Bob Sharp will be there on Thursday and Friday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

The wife and I will be leaving in the morning to start the drive down. We're taking two days to make the drive and will be bringing her 350Z and my 280ZXT. I was stationed at Parris Island about twenty years ago and we used to drive down to Savannah on a regular basis. Looking forward to a little sightseeing before the show and to seeing all of you there.

That's right. Who needs to pay a gym membership for a steam bath? All you have to do is live in the Southeast in the Summer.

Well, we're at the hotel now. For some reason I was pretty thirsty on the drive down. The car ran like a champ. I'd never taken it on a 300 mile drive. We stopped a little after half way, and it only needed 6.3 gallons to fill it. And I thought the car was running rich.

I'll see what I can do about getting some photos of the convention to date posted to the thread, but the vast majority of cars that I have seen coming in and in the parking lot have been Z32's and Z33's.

There are a few S30s & S130s hiding in the parking garage. It's just too dark in there to take a decent picture. From my room, I can also see an S30 in the other parking area adjacent to the garage. I just don't feel like going out into the heat right now.

The wife and I are taking a short break after the opening reception. Mr. K talked to the convention via Skype. He looks pretty darn good for 101. I won a NISMO license plate frame. I'm tempted to put it on my ugly 73 just for the comedic value.

Frankly I wasn't paying close attention to who owns which car. I'm just enjoying the show. I'll have more pictures up tonight.

I did also manage to get my copy of a print of a 240Z in BSR livery signed by Bob Sharp.

I was wondering why the guy was trying to sell the car for $100.

    Steve,

Thanks for posting all the pictures. Looks like some real nice cars came to Savanna this year.

    Steve,
    thanks for posting pics.
057 is soooo much more classy than the usual G-nose.
As for 087 - I've seen convertible Z's before but the subtle and not so subtle detail alterations on this one put it in a class of it's own.

Well, quite a few people have been departing today. The only events for today are the autocross and the "To Go Cup" party at Hooters. I got to see some people I haven't seen in years, including Mad Mike and a few people from the Z Car Club of NOVA. I also got to meet some great people like Guy Miller and Bill Moreau. Considering the temperatures this week, it was fantastic to have an indoor car show.

My primary goal for attending the convention has been accomplished. The boss is the closest she has ever been to catching Z fever. She was even eyeing a Z32 2+2 that someone was selling. The great thing is that she understands why I want to take those two old cars sitting out in the garage and try to turn back the clock a little bit.

I don't know if the finances will allow us to visit Phoenix or San Diego in 2012 or 2013, but you never know.

If you can swing it, I recommend going to a ZCON even if you can only make it once.

I departed Clearwater, Florida at about 1:30 AM Wednesday and arrived at the Convention Hotel at about 7:30 AM some 356 miles later.

The Freeways were pretty clear during those hours -and it was a LOT COOLER then as well. Normal cruise was in the 80 mph to 85 mph range {sometimes above that}. My white 72 ran like a clock, very smooth and very stable. All-in-all it was a very enjoyable drive to say the least. On the return leg, I left the hotel at about 2:30AM Saturday morning.. and was home here in Clearwater by 9:00 AM {fog in the Northern part of Florida slowed the return leg}.

The Convention Hotel was great - best shower and beds I've have experienced in a hotel in years. No water savers in the shower heads!! In room WiFi could have been better...

As you can see from the pictures posted by others - lots of beautiful Z's to see and enjoy. Lots of great people to meet and hang out with. A fifteen minute "free" Fairy ride and you were in the heart of old Savannah - with lots of shops, places to eat and drink. Most very reasonable in price as well.

The highlight of this years convention was of course Bob Sharp. Bob held briefings in a conference room beside the Car Show Floor several times. He told us a bit about his history and how he became a Race Driver and Datsun Dealer. Followed by lots of interesting and funny stores about the early days. Bob and his wife were a pure pleasure to be with and I'm sure that everyone really enjoyed meeting and talking with them.

Bob was truly amazed at the number and condition of the Z's present. He fully recognized the time, effort and money needed to restore or build these cars and bring them to the Convention.

Hats off to Will for putting together a wonderful time for all of us, at a really great site.

    FWIW,
    Carl B.

Congrats on the car Guy. It looked great in person. I wanted to meet both you and steve, I had no idea what steve looked like. I did make you out at the awards dinner but didn't get an opportunity to introduce myself. I did hang out by your car a bit. I love that color!

Cozye......Sorry we didn't meet too......the people were the best part of the show. Steve and Wendy were great. Also, enjoyed talking with Carl and Jim, Mad Mike, Bill Coffey and Rich, Pizzaman, Todd, ezzzzzz (Mark), Jeff Mader and his wife Sue........Carol Sharp actually had better inside stories than Bob. Vinny and Vince and Carl240.....I could go on and on. I finally got to get on the track the last day....did 2 laps. It's the damnedest thing you ever saw. You just leave the hotel....go two blocks through the Golf Club entrance and drive onto the track anytime you want. Wow.....what a great convention.....You did a great job Will!

Any chance you guys can upload the photos to our gallery? I noticed that putting them on other galleries (like Flickr and Photobucket) will eventually expire causing bad links (let's say in 6 months). If they are posted here, the photos will be online forever..

    http://www.classiczcars.com/photopos...y.php?cat=3686

Attachments to this thread will also last forever but the gallery is the ultimate place for them.

!!! Well, congrats on the 2nd place finish! you certainly deserve it. Is JT's car in any of the photos?

There is one car that appears to be 919 yellow in great shape. I would have liked to see that one in person.

What an amazing gathering of beautiful Z's. Wish I could have been there.

But I am sure you will be in Phoenix next year. Good news Rich, I got a real buddy of mine who lives in Glendale AZ who has a huge place. He just finished building a huge multi-car garage on his property too. I told him that I will be bring some Z car guys out there next year...he is ready and said we can do all out prep work on the cars in the garage. No need to pay for a hotel. I have a 73 of mine stored at his place too. I hope to have the 71 widebody ready by then, it is all up to my paint and body guy.

Default More 2011 Z Con Pics

I uploaded my photos from the 2011 Z Car Convention into the gallery:

    http://www.classiczcars.com/photopos...y.php?cat=3686

The convention was a blast, and the guys and gals from the Coastal Z Car Club and ZCCA did an excellent job.

I uploaded pics of all year Z's, but you will notice that most of the images are grouped by Z Series, with most of the S30's near the later pages.

    Enjoy!

    Hey Guy,

I guess I didn't realize that with DNA testing the dirt, vomit and urine c/b traced back to me.....I will have to come up with another scheme to get to 1st place!!!! I think you could flip a coin to decide 1st place between our 2 cars.......they are both so beautiful. It was a lot of fun hanging out with you and your wife........

Just got back from a 2300 mile trip with my daughter in the Z. The first night I stopped in Savannah so I took her on the track to show her what mom does for thrills. She also saw the Westin and Savannah.

The Porsche crew was there trying to act like us. Pffttt....lol

When they said you couldn't leave until the day was done, I opted not to go to the track day. I didn't feel like sitting out there in the heat.
