Final Update: I think I've got her fixed!
I took a break from the car for a while, went out of town, came back to it, tackled the issues one more time, going slowly and methodically, and I have...
Update:
@madkaw: I pushed the fluid through the system backwards and got clean results at the master. So as far as I can tell, the lines are bled and A-OK.
Here's an interesting development...
@madkaw: Should I try to force it back up to the master, or should I be cracking open the bleed screw to do it?
Oh goodness, I didn't see that this thread had still more replies after my last one.
... and no, this isn't a "Zombie Thread" as I am still very much in the throws of frustration!
I apologize...
@Blue: Alright, I'll do the gymnast thing again and get my head under the dash to adjust the pedal a bit better. Question though: How do I check the rod going into the master? Would that really cause...
Hey guys, sorry it's been a while since I posted.
I decided to shoot a video to better illustrate what's going on. Hopefully the running commentary along with the visuals will help inform the...
I'm going to bleed the master one more time before I say for certain one way or the other, but yeah, I'm kind of feeling this.
I might shoot a quick video to go along with this too, just so people...
Quick Update:
I'm not sure, but I might be on to something now.
I plugged off the outlets on the master again, and started to give it another round of bleeding, and I'm noticing that when it's...
The Flex lines have all been replaced. The rears were done last year, and the fronts were done two years ago. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Hmm... the last time I tried, I couldn't get my wheels to lock at all...
It seems like the further down the line I go (in terms of plugging fittings and testing for pressure), the less power I...
Yes, the check valve for the booster should be correct, as I replaced the booster several years ago and have had no issues with with anything brake related up until now. In fact, even now, the...
Hmm... I suppose that's possible?
Thing is, I had this problem with both my old master, and now with my new replacement one.
When I plug off the outlets from the master, the squishiness goes...
Okay guys, quick update.
I checked between the booster and master cylinder and I didn't see anything that looks like it's fallen out of place or is disconnected.
Also, I removed the...
Thanks again for the mountain of replies you guys. Knowing that there is a mountain of knowledge here to help me is literally all that's keeping me sane with this car right now.
@ Pete, noted, but...
Okay, so I just got the rear brakes hooked back up, and bled 'em. I moved a pretty sizable bubble out of the rear circuits, and nothing is leaking as far as I can see, so now everything is bleeding...
Update: I had to spend a bunch of time away from the car all last week following my most recent post (the weather here simply got too frigid), but I was able to spend all day with her on Monday, and...
Sure thing.
I've bled the system three different ways.
The first way, was the modern, "poor man's" solo method -- using a mityvac to suck fluid through until there was no air coming out of the...
Hi folks, thank you for the mountain of replies and support.
The calipers are mounted correctly, and shoes are adjusted as described in a previous post (as in, just barely dragging on the drums.)...
This was my instinct as well, so I replaced the master cylinder.
The symptoms did not change.
I've had a leaky brake booster/master vac before and it displayed the opposite symptoms I'm encountering, it was also coupled with a nasty "hissing" noise (the sound of escaping vacuum) every time I...
Alright guys, I know it's been a while since I've posted on here -- I usually just cruise the 'search' function for useful info , but I'm really scratching my head at my car right now.
I have...
Hey, Fastwoman. I pulled each injector clip off, one by one, and noticed a drop in RPM each time I did it. Sounds like each cylinder is 'pulling its weight' as you say.
Interestingly enough, I did...
FastWoman,
I forgot to mention I did use heatshrink actually. They came with the kit that the guy on ebay sells. No worries there.
Also, I've performed the electrical tests outlined in the FSM...
Done and done. I replaced the brake booster a couple of years ago, when it was leaking it was pretty obvious (I just never bothered to paint the new one, d'oh!)
...
Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses.
@FastWoman: Indeed, I'd be atonished now too if it weren't electrical ... this just means I seemingly have miles and miles of wiring to climb through now,...
