good news guys! grills and spoilers

Well Guys!!!!! fantastic news!!!

my KPGC110 fibreglass replica grill and front/rear spoiler has touched down in sydney (THANKS SOOOOO MUCH MILES!), and i am just holding my breath until Australia Post delivers!

when i get hold of them, i will take some photo's and then start arranging to get them sent off to a fibreglasser (probably the guy in melbourne) to make moulds.

I am not sure if he will be doing the front grill (i assume it is going to be quite awkward), but maybe i should start getting a show of hands to who wants what, I am afraid that this guy may not get around to making the moulds for ages unless there is some interest, and i want to get them back sooner rather than later for painting! so the more interest, the faster he can organise it?? not sure how we would go about this? either deal with him direct, or maybe as a group buy if someone wants to organise it

the reason for using the guy in melbourne, is then we have a one stop place to go for all parts.

Front lip spolier : 2
Rear wing spoiler : 3
GTR replica grill : 3 (assuming this gets copied)

Don't ask me about prices, i havn't even spoken to the guy about it yet (but he has been warned this will happen by bruce).

Wow, that was fast. The grille has metal wire and bracing behind it, so it would need to come off if it's going to be replicated.

Guys, this stuff is getting hard to come by in Japan, so it would be better to show some interest. Heck, you could even start to export them back to Japan!

Yep, count me in for one of everything, with possibly two grills.

Kent, when I chatted to Phil about it, he said it will not cost you anything to have the moulds made. Just when it comes to getting replacements made. I cannot remember the price estimates, but there are discussed in one of the treads somewhere.

Damn, I hate being out of work. I would take two of everything otherwise.

I rang Phil about the flares he was planning on making about a month ago to sort out payment and shipping to NZ. Has anyone else got theirs yet or heard from him how long they will take? I would definately be keen on the rear spoiler too.

Bruce, can you pm me the guy's details so i can contact him regarding this all going ahead (unless you have dealt with him prevously, in which case i am more than happy to let you handle it, just as long as he doesn't destroy my parts!)

Hi Guys,

The spoilers and grill arrived yesterday! unfortunately it looks like the postman was a little careless, and the grill coped a bit of a beating, but it should be fixable for the mould.

I will ring the fibreglass guy next week and start organising!

I will ask phil, if he is not prepared to fix it, then i will need to find somebody else who is prepared to (given the money he will make out of the moulds i don't see why he would have a problem with it).

i have approached Phil at challange fibreglass, and have sent a bunch of photo's to him of the parts.. just awaiting a responce and hopefully we can get the ball rolling!

higher res photo's are attached for those interested (they show how the grill brackets and mesh is riveted on, i am not sure if Phil will do this, or you will have to)

Hi Guys,

i have been in contact with Phil, and he is confident that it will be fine. I just have to make up a mounting template off the car to ensure that the mounts don't move when he fixes it and then i will ship them down to him for moulding.

He is confident that he can re-create the steel brackets, rivets as well, and will also search around to source the same type of grill material, so fingers crossed you will be able to buy the whole thing from him

that reminds me, does anybody know what colour the grill should be? i think it is a gunmetal grey type colour, got any paint codes to match? should it match the rear beaver panel colour?

A Quick Update, I received an email from Phil today, and the moulds should be complete this week. With parts being made up for myself and Brian late in the week.

If you are in Sydney, and are ready to get the parts now (and pay up), then i can possibly get it included in my shipment of bits, but i need to know asap, so that it will not delay my order (otherwise Brian will kill me

kent, interesting that i just returned from holidays to find the box containing my replica grill on the doorstep

and wouldn't you know it, it was cracked in much the same manner as yours, but in a spot easier that will be easier to mend

whomever or whatever smashed it did a pretty good job as the area cracked is structurally heavy duty

Still waiting for a reply from Phil about my query about the c110 arches! Also in the future I would also love a set of spoilers and a grill!!!

I have read back all the threads on the forum and I am impressed with your knowledge of the c110 beast!! Having owned mine for 18 years now! My father gave me it when I was 14!! Its due its long deserved restoration!!

Secondly, what type of C110 is it you have? I know the Hardtop is a rare beast in the UK so if you do have a hardtop version I know of several people who would be very interested in having a look.

Hi buddy! Thanks for the greeting!! I actually have a c110 4 door sedan! I would dearly love a coupe but over here its a mission impossible!!! I've hung on to my beast for a few years now! I just want to make it VERY COOL!!! Have seen a pic of a sedan with all the kit on an boy if it looked any cooler it would be an ice berg!! Been pals with Will (datman) for a long time now! He is helping with some resto bits for me!!

Shame it's not a hardtop, though like you say, fairly thin on the ground. hence why i said there would be people I know of very keen to see it if it was one, Will being one of them, another chap by the nickname spottedlaurel would be another. Hi Guys,

Just an update on the Fibreglass pieces, as i just got an update from Phil.

The front lip and boot spoiler is complete, and a few have been made up. He has also a few fenders in stock now too.

The grill is proving to be a problem, apprently it had been prepared very very poorly, and there wasn't even a undercoat applied before painting, resulting in the paint peeling off during moulding. He is confident it can be done, it will just take a while longer (hopefully 2 weeks longer). On a happy note, he has sourced some metal grill material, but there is no firm pricing on this yet.

It is probably a good idea to ring Phil and make your order if you want flairs, front spoiler or rear spoiler.. at least then they can make a few more at one time than having to pull out the mould at a later time.

Hi Guys,

Just an update as i spoke to Phil yesterday. The grill mould is still on-going as they have been stuck doing other jobs. though they have sourced what seems to be the same mesh material, and they have spoken to a metal guy to make up the brackets.

he is sending me a set of spoilers, for test fitting (the front spoiler, may need to be filled out a little more, as it looks like the original i got may have been a copy of a copy..), so as soon as i get them, i will fit them on Brian's car, and post some pics

dafunkist.. the badges are an issue.. you could probably get away with an R33 GT-R badge on the front (probably need to cut the back down a little so it is flat), and an R32 GT-R badge on the rear (smaller than the R33 rear badge, but not exactly the same as C110).. but short of getting them out of japan.. i wouldn't hold your breath of them turning up here (maybe once in a blue moon!), and if they do.. expect BIG dollars!

My bits should be shipped sometime this week.

I was charged the following (though prices will vary according to costs of material at the time, so don't be surprised if it fluctuates..trust me.. this is a LOT cheaper than getting them from japan, and given Phils comments, probably of better quality).

Flares : $270
front spoiler : $141
rear bobtail : $132

plus packaging and shipping..

Phil is still holding off main production until i can confirm the front spoiler actually fits properly.

as for the grill.. The mesh has been sourced both in galvinized steel and stainless.. i recommended galvanized to make it easier for us to paint later. Hopefully there should be some big news in 2 weeks time.

Im interested in the front spoiler and the bobtail, the prices seem very reasonable. you can pretty much lock me in for some at that price.

Has anyone got any photo's of the standard C110 arches pumped out without flares?

I have put in an order for an arch roller which arrives in three weeks and was just going to roll the steel arches. I'm on a quest to have the most modified kgc110 in the world.

The rear is good (though the tips of the spoiler that go past the boot lid needs to be filled in.

as for the front, i am not 100% sure yet, it certainly needs some modification, i just havn't had any more time to look into it as i move house next weekend..

No pics i am afraid, just afterwards, i had to send a 240K over to Brian in the states, and as his parts hadn't turned up, i had to hastily throw them on his car for shipping.

I think the front spoiler will fit with a little bit of shaping.. i am trying to get in contact with them to get another grill.. tried email, but no luck.. so i will have to find time to give them a call.

I spoke with Phil today, he said alot of emails he gets go straight to his trash as his spam checker is putting them there automatically, he said the best bet is to call him after 5pm before 6pm, and also he rarely seems to have phone reception. He told me honestly another run is still a perspective 2 months away as they are quite behind on some contracts. I have ordered a full set ie. boot and front spoiler, flares, grill.

Because I doubt he'll be able to let me know freight costs to NZ over the phone straight away regardless, my email shouldn't have gone to a spam filter being it was sent from a .co.nz and not a hotmail.com or yahoo.com address, but you never know I guess. I'll send one from a couple of addresses perhaps.

I received a reply from restored.jp in a day, so I was quite disappointed to not get one from Australia in.. well, it's been months now.

After not receiving a response from Aus, I went there and investigated their prices and what they had available, unfortunately, they don't do the flares which are my top priority.

Their CF stuff is magic looking though isn't it!? and complete FRP guards and doors.. simply magic. I would spent thousands there if I had thousands to spend!
