Dat ass. Hnnng.
Looking good!!
Mmmm looks awesome! You keeping it on gas?
Adz, I've removed the gas system and it will be staying out, It's left quite a few holes in the bodywork though but they will be fixed before it gets painted. It will be getting triple carbs on a L series of some sort but i'm not sure how serious the engine will be at this stage.
![]()
Awww man it look so good!!
I hear you re engine. I was looking at something pretty special but after chatting and looking at prices I'm thinking it's going to be a hot 2.8-2.9 with triples now.
still can't get over how clean it is.
what brand flares are they?
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
I got the flares, grill and rear spoiler through OTOMOTO
Cool, how did you find the stuff?
also keen to know what the quality is like
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
The fibreglass stuff is pretty good but not perfect and will need a little bit of work to get just right. There overall finish is good with minor waves that can be easily fixed but there are small gaps in between the flare and panel in places, these would be 3mm or so and there is one spot that is a 4mm gap so this will need building the edge of the flare out a bit to sit closer to the panel or maybe remove some material from the flare where it's touching to bring it closer if possible.
They also definitely need rubber inbetween the flare and the panel to help hide any small gaps and to stop the flare rubbing the paintwork even though I don't think the genuine GTR's did.
was only thinking about you and your car yesterday, must of new something was up haha. more pics?
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
Any pics of the jig you've got there?
just love this thread. Looks better than when it left the factory
It seems to be solid under there other than a bit of rust in the rear arches, there's also some rust in the front passenger corner of the bonnet but the rest of the bonnet seems good, the bootlid will also need some rust repairs done under where the stainless trim goes. Around the windows seems to be extremely solid with just some pitting around the drivers side lower front in a couple of spots but no holes.
![]()
Adz, the jig is rather dodge but works. It picks up the front crossmember bolts and rear cradle bolts and tilts slightly to throw the weight over the base loop. The main problem with it is A. I made it out of galv pipe that isn't really strong enough (it was free) and B. It needs more support at the rear of the car because I can lift the front of the car up with one hand which isn't ideal.
I love how much access it gives you to underneath!!
Nice work though, this has given me some ideas for the stands I'm looking to build. Looking good!
Today I dropped the C110 off at a local Resto place to get this project moving along a bit faster. It will be soda/sand blasted in the next few weeks so it will be interesting what secrets are hidden beneath the nice looking paint.

Hey your dolly setup looks tops! Pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do next. Any pics of your mounting points or the jig?
Can't wait to see what the car comes back like!
Sorry mate, I don't think I have any close up pics but on the front above what you can see in the pic is a piece of angle iron approx 200mm long on each side facing downwards picking up the front crossmember bolts under the chassis rails.
On the back it simply has a piece of 75x75 tube bolted between the factory cradle mount studs then some 50x50 legs and some 10 or 12mm plates to bolt the wheels to.

The shell came back from blasting yesterday and it seems to be quite straight with no major rust and no accident repairs. They used soda on the large flat area's and I think garnet In the bay, boot and underneath, I didn't get inside done because it is still really tidy and would only create more unnecessary work. Although the previous rust repairs were plated and not bogged they are not good enough to achieve a file finish so will have to be redone.
Surprisingly there's no rust around the rear window and very little around the front window.

You're pretty lucky by the looks of it! Seems like a really clean car, I'm jelly!
Seems most good blasters use a mix of mediums. What did the blasting and etch prime (I assume it was primed?) cost if you don't mind me asking?

Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
Adz, I actually haven't been billed yet so I can't tell you but will pm you when I find out.
staying the same silver?
is inside the car painted with silver or is it grey?
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
It will be painted the same factory colour (258) and will probably have semi gloss black flares. I look at every silver car on the road and think would that colour look better though.
Inside is silver but doesn't have much gloss to it.
It's a tough call huh. I always wonder what color I should do mine, white or silver.
On the flares, I've often wondered if they are black or silver, looking at some Hi-Res images though, they look satin black?
Speaking to a skyline nut who has about 10? Ish in different models, he's told me he thought satin black was the go

Haha, EXACTLY the pictures I was looking at too.
That red car seems to be more an exception than the rule. Gunmetal grey (probably matching colour AND finish of tail light beaver panel) is definitely much more common for original GT-Rs.
I'd be very intersted to know of the history of that red car. It is very special indeed

I don't have any new pics of my own to show and thought a update was overdue so I borrowed these from the panel shops FB page. Basically the car is at a stage where most of the rust and old rust repairs have been fixed and GTR wheel arch mods are being done.
Front fender receiving GTR treatment.
This fabricated piece will go in the gap that cutting the rear fender leaves instead of cutting the inner fender into tabs and folding outward.

that is awesome! impressed with the inner wheel well addition, the guard tab way isn't great at all!
very jealous!

I'm really enjoying watching the work he's doing. Seriously thinking about sending my car there too.
The workshop is Custom and Classic Cars
I left it up to him to do something that would be neater than the tab method and that is what he came up with. When it's sitting up in position it looks extremely neat from both underneath and inside the boot.
Neither can I. I think it's so much better than folding the inner guards

Scuff plate looks nice, I really need to do mine.
Progress update - Both sides have been metal finished and came up really well, I was stressing a bit about where the LPG hole was Oxy welded but even that came up awesome and won't need any filler.
I made my own rear camber and toe adjustment which seems to work well, It's similar to the datsport 1600 kit with slotted plates and thread for adjustment. No more ridiculous camber!
looks bloody awesome mate!
Well the car is getting closer to having colour put onThe zink bits and chrome bumpers are away getting redone and I'm sandblasting and painting the suspension parts so things are moving along fairly well.
The bootlid was a mess compared to the rest of the car for some reason.
File finished

I'm not sure what that hole is for, it looks factory but just has a blanking plate with a gasket that screws over it. I just assumed all c110's had them.
Last edited by Laggy6; 09-11-2013 at 03:32 AM.
I can only wish my C110 was this well presented. Keep it up your kinda not really almost finished :P
The tub of Zink bits are pieces are back from plating, I had the bumpers re-chromed too. Now all I need is a painted shell to put them on.
Some of these pieces were either slightly pitted or had small dents and scrapes on them so I sandblasted them and filled the blemishes with high build primer then sanded them true.

Yeah, I think the bay and boot will get done in the next few weeks.
If you sent your car over how much would you get them to do?
Started bolting/screwing pieces together.
And found this new windscreen. I went to a windscreen supply warehouse asking about them and they had one in stock, When they pulled it down from the rack it was FILTHY dirty and the plastic wrapping around it was falling apart.
Check the manufacture date, I guess they don't sell many of them!

There hasn't been a lot to update lately but I picked up a F54 block (flat top) and a N42 head the other day which are now at the engine shop for a rebuild/tweak. Hopefully by the time it's built I will have the shell back and partly assembled ready to drop in.
Was wondering what has been happening to yours mate. Nice find of the engine parts. I'm still hunting an l28

First bit of colour is on, most of the underbody is silver over schutz except for the spare wheel area which is just colour then clear.

Hey mate, fantastic work. Zinc parts look great. Is it expensive to get done? Do they charge by weight? Looking to get some done but have heard it's expensive.
Hi Cam, I can't find the receipt but I think the whole lot was around $400-500 to do (not including the bumpers).
The smaller items like nuts, bolts and washers are charged by either weight or by barrel full, I can't remember exactly which but it's quite cheap. The larger pieces like headlight buckets, pulleys and horn bits that won't fit in the barrel are more expensive because they are manually wired into position and they charge you by the area they take up while hanging in the tank.
While I'm posting, here's a pic of the engine bay.
