Went and had a look at this yesterday, boot is good, doors are good, some of the trim ( on the boot etc) is straight as. It was painted aprox 1.5-2 years ago, there is rust appearing which you can see in the photo above the drivers side door, it's also coming up on the passenger side but not as bad, and low on both rear guards, was damp under pass side carpet starting to rust but didn't appear to be terminal. Interior has been patched/ retrimmed, not such a good job, dash is stuffed under the vinyl cover, rear cards have been trimmed, roof lining is sagging. Damage to the front isn't to bad, if you had a front section you could replace it with, the chassis rails are bent really close to the front of the car.
I was tossing up as to how I could use it personally, either use my car as a doner to fix this or the other way around and I'm still undecided, has the potential to be fixed with a front end and some decent rust repairs otherwise a lot of the parts on it would make it a good parts car. However I don't have the, just shy of 3grand he is looking for to buy a parts car.
Hope that info can help anybody if they were looking to purchase.
Cheers

True...I just hate the idea of a classic 'G-spec' car being altered, when there's plenty of shells and project cars out there. I was pissed off that I couldn't buy this car in the first place, but I'm almost 'postal' after I read Laggy's forum link! There's plenty of us out there that appreciate these beasties for what they are, and they're damn hard to find (almost 4 years since I last spotted a good original car).
Last edited by degruch; 05-20-2012 at 05:17 PM.
Watch who you call a moron buddy! What I do with my car is my business..a shell would be a great idea if they weren't all riddled with rust and missing all the parts required to build a car of the calibre I want without going broke from buying parts at over inflated prices. Either way you should be happy it's gone to a genuine older Datsun enthusiast and not some kid who is going to thrash it for his first car or ruin it with silly short cut modifications. Either way, no need to be a ****head and offend people you don't know especially when they are genuinely passionate about the car they have just bought.
I find it ammusing and ironic that the same reasons I didn't look for a shell are the same you didn't want one.. not to mention you really will consider just about anything other than a 240K... unlike you, I have only wanted this or a Hakosuka..
Anyway.. That's not the point of this thread.. I just got annoyed by your comments and couldn't refrain myself..

Unfortunately with much regret due to a recent job loss, upcoming lack of income and ongoing bills, I have to put my 1973 Datsun 240K up for sale. I am a very meticulous person and this is a good honest original car. The original QLD owner, who is now 91, bought the car brand new in 1973 from Nissan and has done a fantastic job keeping it in on the road but like anything that’s old and tired, it needs restoration (paint work and mechanical). To my knowledge the car has never had an accident and no rust that I can see. It’s not museum quality but it is a great example of a well maintained 240k with a genuine history and I believe that it is the perfect starting point for a concourse restoration. I have only owned the car since May 2012 so essentially it still is a one owner car and while I’m not looking to make a profit on it, I am looking to get my money back and ideally I’d like the car to go to an enthusiast who will bring it back to its former glory.
What else comes with the car?
- New Old Stock Nissan KPGC110 Skyline gear knob (bought from Japan);
- Complete 5 speed manual conversion (pretty much everything you need to convert the car from automatic to manual)
- Very good condition chrome trim moulds front and back (bought from Japan)
- Original point of sale brochure, original owner’s manual and genuine Nissan workshop book
- I have a heap of other parts that will be thrown in with the sale of the car.
PLEASE DON’T MAKE ANY SILLY OFFERS, I will only respond to genuine enquiries and if you’re looking at this car then you know what they’re worth and how hard they are to come by.
Sorry to hear you can't keep it....

Really genuinely sorry to hear about your job, and the car (regardless of what you had planned...you talked me around), I'm jobless one month now, otherwise I would have gladly thrown the money at you. Let hope one or both of us is back in a job soon mate. Good luck with your search.

Unfortunately,I think so.
On another note for those looking for a coupe:

I wonder what the '... some new gt clone parts have been sourced already and can negotiate at extra ..."
I'm on the look out for some bits myself, I wonder if he's on this site ?

prob **** all like most 240ks where
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
From memory it was around $1200 I think.
I actually saw the car parked at Heybridge ( I have a few photos ), then a week or so later it was gone from where it was sitting ( I assumed it was moved into one of the large sheds in the area ),
I assume the guy started work on it, realized how big a job it was, now wants to off load it, at a profit ( and stripped )
If he left it as it was when he got it, offered it for a similar amount, Then I would have brought it to add to my collection,
I'm after a straight 2 door shell, mine have been repaired a long time ago, it looked it it had been hit in the front and rear, like what you see when you spin out and hit both ends..
who ever did the repair work did a good job, but it's not as good a body that was not damage..

Hope it goes to a proper home. I nearly bought this in 2007. But seeing as I want a G.T.R replica, this ones
too good to cut up. There should be a good write up on this car on this forum in 2006 when it was for sale
by previous owner.

Spoke to the Guy today,
he is keen for 12k and for it to stay here in Australia.
Apparently he has 3 or 4 sedans in various states also
Amazing, I would have paid $12k at the drop of a hat for it...but bought an Isuzu Bellett GT for the same money late last week! NOW they all come out of the woodwork.
By the way, someone called me last week offering me a h/t project, I referred them to this site, so hoped he might have been in touch (if not already a member).
So, I'm out of the 240K market for now, cheerio everyone![]()
pics of the bellett!?
I better keep it brief, I'm off topic. But I do think $12k is more than realistic for an excellent original Kenmeri...if only it had come up a week earlier...

Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
sold but i know where it's gone... will keep you posted, will try and negotiate it into my hands.
Has someone dummy bidded that brown coupe on eBay upto that 12 grand figure now? Looks like it if you look at the bid history!
the blue 240K coupe off Gumtree was previously bought off eBay by the Kuwaiti guy here in Melb, had severe front end damage. He called me looking for a bonnet for it, didn't have one. Anyhow, he's repaired it and obviously on-selling.
Went and checked out the brown coupe currently on eBay, just before Mansfield. I looked over the 3 sedans he had for sale as well, told me $2000 for the three cars. Says there was another person keen, but first person to his place Monday AM would get to buy them. So I head up with cash on a 3 hr drive, get there, he says he'll wait for the other guy to turn up in the evening and see what he offers! Jerk! Anyway, long story short, some guy named 'Drew' bought all 3 K's, plus 3 260C's, and an excellent C210 sedan.![]()
I personally don't think he sold them, I think he's now seen how much interest there is and he wants to hang on and get as much as he can.
Out of the 3 K sedans, the best was a complete, very straight original 5 speed, slight damage to driver front guard. Only one of the other two was salvageable, the worst had what seemed to be forklift holes through all doors, dented roof, and severely damaged rear end, minus running gear.
He also had 28 various Holdens there, varying from HG, HK, HT, etc, all complete too, and all under cover!
L Series Sixes; can't beat 'em!
Chrysler V8's; can't beat 'em either!![]()
1969 VF Valiant 318 Fireball.
I reckon I know the Drew he's talking about. coupe72001 off SAU.
wonder if it will get any more bids or be relisted due to seller no paying
