Thanks. Ideally I would like 0 offset and 225 50 14s like the old ITS cars ran. These wheels are usually found on 510s. In fact I got these on craigslist from a 510 guy.

JEFF,
Where did you get those "280Z on Enkei(?) 14x6 wheels and 215/60R14 tires" wheels? They look just like a pair I used to run on my street car back in 1986.
Coop, they were on the 280 when I bought it back in 1990. At that time, the car had been sitting for about 5 years, so they are at least 26 years old - maybe more. I like the wheels a lot, but they have the stupid slotted lug holes that accept multiple bolt circles. I am afraid to use them on the 260 race car even though I need another set of 14x6 wheels for the track. Has anybody ever used wheels with this style hub on the track? I have never been able to verify if they were designed to use some sort of insert. There were "Unilug" wheels of the same era that used a washer with an offset hole, but these don't appear to use anything other than a regular shank style lugnut.

Jeff. Those could have been my old wheels but mine weren't slotted. They looked good with the gold trim and the yellow paint job. Sort of like a Ferrari. I found them to be a nuisance when I started to run them in ITS back in 1987, what with always removing them to bleed brakes, etc. So I switched to a proper lugged 14x7. I would never run the old shank type of wheels on the track. In fact, I once had a shank type of wheel modified with pressed inserts in order to use the beveled lug nuts. Nice.
Last edited by coop; 08-31-2011 at 01:38 PM. Reason: incomplete
We had one of the Vectors come loose last year mid-race. Luckily it didn't come off, but it did booger up the lug holes in the wheel. I hate shank-style wheels!!! They are a pain in the ass to get on and off quickly and the nuts are getting hard to find.

I got a line on a set of those 280Z on Enkei(?) 14x6 wheels and 215/60R14. They are on a project car that will not be using them since the car was rebodied to a GTO 250. I am sure they are for sale here in San Diego if anyone is interested...local deal and pick up of course. I will get some pictures of my wheels on here, Watanabe's 15x7s with medal center caps. Got a set of Centerlines, Turbines and recently restored a set of SSR Reverse Mesh 15X7s, I had the centers powder coated silver. They will be for sale.
The "280Z on Enkei(?)" wheels aren't Enkeis. They look like Gotti replicas as built by either American Racing or Ultra. Enkei never made that style.
It took quite a bit of searching, but Enkei did actually make a wheel that looks just like mine. The Enkei model was called Easyrider. Unfortunately, there are no markings on the wheels, so I have no idea if mine are actually Enkei or not. Here is a picture I found of the Enkei Easyriders.
and here are my wheels

These Riken 14" wheels were on the car when I recently got it. They may have been put on the car when new because the stock steel wheels and new condition hub caps were in the trunk. I need new tires because these are old and in bad condition from storage. They are 225/60/14. I want to go with something a little narrower like 205 or so.

I got same mags on the 73 I just picked up last week. Seen urs so now I may try to restore mine. Was it common to put that wheel on back then?
Al, I think I've got what I need. In October, I tried the slotted hole six-spoke wheels during practice and they held torque. I also raced for 25.5 hours on the rim with the slightly damaged lug holes and it held fine as well.
The main thing I learned is that shank style lugnuts from auto parts stores are not made well enough for severe use such as racing. I noticed that we had to keep retorquing several of the wheels early in the race and when I inspected the nuts, I found that the nuts themselves were wearing badly where they interface with the washers. I used a different set of nuts (with shorter shanks) that I bought off ebay on the damaged wheel and that was the only one that held torque throughout the race. After 25.5 hours and 1400 race miles, the ebay nuts looked like new and the Autozone nuts were in lousy shape.

Hi Ron,
Can you remember where you bought the Z caps?
Thanks,
George
old wheels i cant remember name.
I swear this thing has something else go wrong BEFORE I even get the last thing fixed! It's POSSESSED by a demon -- despite the Holy Water I put in the radiator!
The first ones are the same as what I had on my 70 240z, can't find them now and have no idea what brand they are, can anyone help? The second ones are Keystone Turbines(no clue if they're legit or knockoffs though), with some cheapy tires on it currently until I can get her finished, then the circuit tires go back on.
and yes, those first tires/wheels are a mix-match, we got American Bronze tires put on them, but one was defective a couple weeks later, took it back for exchange and all they had was Remington, so I have (3) American Bronze tires and (1) Remington. For 30yr old tires, they're still doing great, no cracks forming or anything. They're 185/80-13's, used for cruising only. The circuit tires(not pictured) are 205/60-13's.
