so lucky to find a good example, please don't ruin it.
Through a good friend of mine, I found out about a GENUINE one owner 1973 Datsun 240K GL 2 door coupe in white with only 51,000k’s on the clock and the history to prove it! This will be the perfect basis for a GT-R-KPGC110 replica, most commonly referred to as "Ken & Mary". Until the car arrives from QLD, this is the only picture I have

I searched high and low for the right car; I have been all over the country trying to find the “right one”. I almost gave up hope until I found this car. I am a very meticulous person and although it won’t be a fast build, I can assure you that it will definitely be a quality one! The car has never had an accident and never had any repairs done which is what drew me in. It’s not museum quality but it is a well maintained 240k with a genuine history and I believe that it is the perfect starting point for a GTR rebuild. The owner, who is now 91, bought the car brand new in 1973 from Nissan and has done a fantastic job keeping it in such good condition. He was sincerely distraught when he was signing over the papers but I assured him that I’d give it a good home.
Here’s a picture that I took while I was in QLD finalising payment and paper work.
The car will be picked up tomorrow by the logistics company and should be here on Friday. The plan is to enjoy it a little before I take it off the road for a full restoration.

nice score....good luck!
That is freakin awesome! What a score!
Congratulations on such a good find and welcome to the club.
It seems like you have a top example of a 240K, is it auto or manual?
There's lots of guys on this site doing G.T.R clones, myself included.
Maybe your car is a little too good to convert into a G.T.R, it seems a shame to cut the "sail lines" on the back for
flares, but at the end of the day it's up to you. Good Luck and remember to post plenty of photos as we would
all be interested to see.

Don't cut it, or I'll go mental.
Woo great find looks like a lot of the hard to find parts are all there, Good luck with the build. Will be a good meet when we all finish our cars.
Good luck, We are fully prepared you want to sell
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the positive comments. I will take a heap of photo's when it arrives from QLD (it just got picked up). It's currently auto, but i'd love to convert it to a manual. As for the GTR clone, the car is very clean and it'd be a shame to see it go down that path but at the same time, it's one of my dream cars so i'm kinda divided on what to do. I'm not going to be rushing into anything and as I said, I want to enjoy it a little before I take it off the road for a full resto, so I still have plenty of time to make a decision.
Cheers

If you want one to Convert to GTR, that is a good solid base let me know because i would be very keen to swap (With Cash Your way) a good car thats not to good to cut up for a great car that is to good to cut up.
I have been looking for a mint stocker to keep that way for some time.
And have some GTR tail lights i can throw in as part of the deal....
any way good luck and have a think about the above!
Hi Mastadd240K,
I appreciate the offer but I had been trying to find a good clean original 240K and luckily I’ve found it. I will be keeping it as it’s one of my dream cars, just undecided on what direction I’m going to take with this car (GTR MOCK or restoration), I won't be selling anytime soon but if I do, I’ll be sure to keep you in mind. I wouldn’t be interested in a trade because I know that I’ve got one of the best examples there is and my OCD won’t allow me to have anything else but the best. I’ll keep you all updated when it arrives and of any progress.
Cheers
would love to see alot of detailed pics of everything, so lucky to find this gem
Wanted: Hardtop interior pieces
Australia...soon to have more KPGC110 GTR's then japan...
ah well...least it's not going to rust or be crushed like the majority of 240k's have surely suffered...even if it is hacked up
gl with it...
So it arrived today and had a proper chance to look over it with a mechanic mate.
The original engine is running quite rough (was fine in QLD), needs brakes and carbies need a rebuild. This has sped up my decision to take it off the road and restore it without driving it around as is.
Plans for the build are:
*Rebuild L24 from ground up with Webber carburettors and a lumpy cam.
*Convert from auto to manual (if anyone can help me source the bits I need for this, can you please pm me)
*Respray in white
*240 K Manual centre console
*GTR guards
*GTR spoiler
*GTR grill
*GTR badges
*GTR trim highlights (silver instead of woodgrain)
*GTR steering wheel
*New carpets
*restored dash pad (this one’s cracked)
*Wide Wantanabe with low offset (keep hubbies for shows etc)
I’ve taken some quick close ups from my phone so excuse the quality.. I will get some better pictures once I get a chance.. it only arrived this afternoon and as you can see it’s NOT a museum car and is in need of restoration.
As you can see no rust in the floors which is great
Interior is perfect..
Some may think I paid too much or too little but at least it’s in genuine original condition. Overall I’m reasonably happy and doubt I’d have found cleaner anytime soon.. I know my plans will disappoint many people but at the end of the day, it’s another classic on the road that’s been saved from the scrap heap and will get nothing but the best parts and service. It’s my car, I have always wanted an old GTR and I’m sticking with an original style build. I won’t be putting an RB26 or anything like that (although that’d be awesome) it’s not what I want or how I envisioned it to be (I’m an old skool kinda guy!)..

the C110 240k is a not normal car
Any pics of the low side of the doors and from around the rear windows. Those where the parts that worried me from your earlier pics.
I’ll get some pics soon of the low side of the doors and around the rear windows. Suprisingly those areas aren’t so bad.. they are the “usual” areas but aren’t that bad.. once it’s fully stripped down, then it’s true identity will be revealed.. I appreciate the support and interest; I’ll endeavour to keep you all updated on its progress..
I am going to start looking for either a set of triple Mikuni's or a set of triple Webbers , other bits I may need help sourcing are the GTR replica bits.. Anyone have experience with the AeroDesu parts from OTOMOTO? How’s the quality? Anyone recommend any other brands or places?

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m96121326 (Note that this a normal skyline badge, GTR have black in the centre of the writing) This has passed through a few times but they can either go for 5~25k depending on condition
The 2nd qrt badge you posted is for a c10 and not c110.
This is the cheapest one atm and hardly find any cheaper than that http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e125687021
Other option is buy through this seller and save postage but his badge is dearer but stock both you need and also has front and rear

Passionate, no expert and not claiming to be.. Simply knew i'd always wanted one and had searched high and low for a good Kenmeri or a old hako rep!
Thanks for the heads up, i'll jump on there now and have a look.. planning to take my time sourcing the right parts... On my to-do list is to head down to Otomoto and check out their GTR grille, spoiler and flares... Cheers anyway for the lead..

Only 197 GTRs sold make's a real steering wheel rare, plenty of look a likes around tho. Yer i brought a genuine Nismo R32 GTR steering wheel for my R32 was nice.
A small update: It took me A LOT of searching around but I ended up tracking down a 5 speed gearbox, tail shaft, flywheel, slave cylinder and all the other ancillary parts needed for my auto to manual conversion. All I need now is a manual pedal box… I’ve read that I can use my existing auto with a few mods but ideally I’d prefer an original item.
I figured this was going to be the hardest thing to track down; so I made it my priority. Also can anyone make suggestions as to some relatively good and easy brake upgrades for the 240?
brake option comes down to wheel size you want to run but in saying that i have found a fc rx7 kit and you can run 14's still and are 280mm rotor otherwise 32~34 brakes but need 16's or could go mk63's but they are pretty costly.
i will be goin rx7 way. just got calipers for $100 and the conversion kit will vary pending on winning bid price but around 300 for adapters and new rotors and get a set of decent pads and braided lines and i will be laughing.
rears you can get alloy fined drums off of zeds otherwise go down the r31 disk rear end setup but i haven't looked into it that much yet.

So I have been getting used to Yahoo Japan Auctions over the long weekend and I must say it's pretty addictive even though I haven't bought anything yet, I will be over the next couple of months. Makes you realise how you could go bankrupt buying stuff for these cars.![]()
Last edited by MR 240K; 06-11-2012 at 12:26 AM.
Just to point out that the auction is for a pair of the SOLID rotor type MK63 calipers, as distinct from the VENTED rotor type ( wider caliper spacing, different castings ). If you are going to the bother, you might as well go for the VENTED type, which are much more effective and less prone to fade due to heat build-up. You'd almost certainly need to rebuild the used calipers with a new rubber & seal kit, and you might expect to find that the pistons will be slightly rust pitted at best, and completely U/S at worst.
Unfortunately with much regret due to a recent job loss, upcoming lack of income and ongoing bills, I have to put my 1973 Datsun 240K up for sale. I am a very meticulous person and this is a good honest original car. The original QLD owner, who is now 91, bought the car brand new in 1973 from Nissan and has done a fantastic job keeping it in on the road but like anything that’s old and tired, it needs restoration (paint work and mechanical). To my knowledge the car has never had an accident and no rust that I can see. It’s not museum quality but it is a great example of a well maintained 240k with a genuine history and I believe that it is the perfect starting point for a concourse restoration. I have only owned the car since May 2012 so essentially it still is a one owner car and while I’m not looking to make a profit on it, I am looking to get my money back and ideally I’d like the car to go to an enthusiast who will bring it back to its former glory.
What else comes with the car?
- New Old Stock Nissan KPGC110 Skyline gear knob (bought from Japan);
- Complete 5 speed manual conversion (pretty much everything you need to convert the car from automatic to manual)
- Very good condition chrome trim moulds front and back (bought from Japan)
- Original point of sale brochure, original owner’s manual and genuine Nissan workshop book
- I have a heap of other parts that will be thrown in with the sale of the car.
PLEASE DON’T MAKE ANY SILLY OFFERS, I will only respond to genuine enquiries and if you’re looking at this car then you know what they’re worth and how hard they are to come by.

i was looking for Datsun 240k for my whole life
and im wondering how much do you want for it
Yeah best list as asking price mate.
mate, no disrespect, but aside from the parts you've listed as additional sale items, how do you justify the almost doubling in price from when you first bought it a month or so ago? considering the manual conversion parts and other smaller original pieces, I'd say an extra $1500 max on top of your purchase price last month.
i don't doubt this will sell even at $11k mark, some middle eastern dude will surely buy...good luck with the sale!

Fair point and I can see how some may jump to conclusions. Not that I should have to justify my pricing rationale but for the sake of people on this forum, I will break down the costs:
Purchase of the vehicle $5900
Blue slip, green slip and rego ($1000) (it also needed new bushes which I bought from Nissan at $104.56 plus the labour cost to fit them in order to attain a road worthy cert in QLD and pass rego in NSW)
Transport from QLD for the car $990
Flights to QLD $300
G/BOX and ancillary parts $900 (I bought it interstate so this is including the freight cost via DHL)
IMMACULATE Chrome trims from eBay $250 (plus Import monsters 2,500yen standard fee then 20% on top and postage charges from Japan)
A spare hubcap I bought on Yahoo JP for $150 (plus Import monsters 2,500yen standard fee then 20% on top and postage charges from Japan)
NOS G/Knob $130 (plus Import monsters 2,500yen standard fee then 20% on top and postage charges from Japan)
So far that’s $9,620 excluding the costs of bushes+labour and excluding Import monster fees and postage on the parts and some of the other extras I bought including another carb. I put $11,500 as I have left room for negotiation. If it doesn’t sell for what it owes me then I’ll hang onto it and sell my daily driver. I know i'll regret selling this as I have spent a while looking for one, but I have to put my priorities straight... tough job market at the moment and realistically, I am not sure how long it will be before I can find another..

If you would like to seperate the chrome pieces and the manual conversion gear (minus gearbox), I'll give you what you paid for the chrome + postage to Brisbane and throw a price at me for the manual stuff.
Keen and serious.
Otherwise, good luck with your sale, you will need it.![]()
Dont worry guys its worth it for Arabic boys!
i'm happy to give you the six grand you paid for the car and i'll cover shipping to SA.
i'm not interested in any of your parts as i have plenty of my own.
11k is just a joke. PM me if you want a quick, no bull**** sale.
The car is sold for close to the asking price; it’s gone to a new owner who I know will do this car the justice it deserves!
For the purists wondering what his plans will be:
Full bare metal restoration
JDM fender mirrors
JDM grill
JDM steering wheel
L28 and manual box with LSD diff.
And that is it, so everyone will be happy to know that the body will not be going into surgery for the GTR treatment.
On another note, he didn’t take the gearbox, so I have a manual g/box with all ancillary parts and I’m asking $550 not negotiable and i'm not separating the parts, I’m located in Sydney. If you’re serious then PM me, I don’t want stories about how I’m asking too much or that your cousins dogs sister knows a guy who can get it cheaper!

swarf; there is a guy in melbourne who has shown me (on his phone of the cars at his house) nearly ALL of the 240K's purchased off ebay within the last 12-18 months are HIS(at least 15!) he's in melbourne, and he has been frank about what he does. quote "this is my business, i buy these cars and sell them to middle east". he buys them australia wide and keeps them at his place until either repaired to decent standard or immediately onsells overseas. when he was at my place a few months back looking at one of the wrecks i had, he was on the phone to a prospective o/s customer. speaking for myself, the ordinary guy has little to no chance anymore of getting a complete decent 240K, unless we pay the big mark up $$$. to him it's a way to earn a living, unfortunately for us it sucks big time :/ he has offered whenever i need parts to call him and he'd be willing to help out, although for how much! my point here is, i respect his honesty, he was honest enough and upfront not to bull$%$ me. i still don't like our K's going offshore though! oh, and NO, i didn't sell my K to him either, went to a local enthusiast![]()

Haha you guys crack me up. Do I look like a charity? I still lost a little money on the car so by no means did I make any profit.. but it was nice to maximise my returns..
You’d have done the same thing, it’s easy to sit back and say that you wouldn’t have done the same thing if you were in my shoes…
What a joke you guys are! They were the most serious buyers (bar one other guy who was actually a good genuine bloke) but apart from that they gave me a hassle free sale.. why would I go through time wasters and headaches from what you define as “enthusiasts” when I had a no drama sale from some guys who were actually pretty decent!? Your responses defy logic... if either of you were to sell your car right now, would you sell it for peanuts or lose a heap of money but be ok with it because it's going to an enthusiast (more like opportunist who will make a profit on it later) or would you maximise the money and try to recoup most of your $?
Honestly, I don't know what you guys do for work, but if it's business related, I don't know how youre still in business...
So, this one went offshore?
Well, for what it's worth, as I've been looking for a loooong time for a good original Kenmeri, $6k was an absolute screaming bargain and, had a still been employed, ~$10k is what I'd have considered paying for the car regardless of how MR240K's costs stack up. Money making exercise? I'm just glad to hear this cars not going to be cut.
MR 240K, relax mate. I sold my car to an enthusiast for the price I needed to recoup costs as well, the 'opportunist' wanted it at a fraction of the selling price. Sorry if my remark about respecting honesty etc came across as a personal attack on yourself, I was speaking in general terms (although i can understand how within this particular topic you felt it was directed at you).
Hey, we all have to make a living somehow, and when our means of doing so is cut off (ie employment) then other things are sacrificed in order to pay the bills!
My point also was meant to demonstrate the value these cars are now reaching, far beyond what most of us imagined years ago. Unfortunately the supply/demand factor has well and truly kicked in, most enthusiasts (let's face it, if we had huge $$$, we'd be driving Ferrari's) are/were your typical middle class Datsun driver. Factor in demand from o'seas, there won't be many left in Oz in a few years.
