New Tire Recommendations--16 inch

I need to replace a set of 205/55/16 tires, currently Toyo T1R.

The T1Rs were very good on the street and at the track but after 7 years they are deteriorating despite lots of remaining tread.

I am considering:

Toyo Proxes 4 A/S
Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S

Any experience with these tires or other suggestions?

I've run the Proxes 4 and the original T1 (predecessor to the T1-R) on other cars. The Proxes 4 were reasonably grippy, better ride and quieter than the T1-R. Much better when the temperature drops (below 40° F). Probably not as good a track tire, though.

I think your on the right track with the Toyo's. The T1R is a great tire. Also, Toyo are also some of the lightest tires I have ever owned. Rotating mass is not negligible and the lighter your tire the better. Just more food for thought.

Check out the Hankook Ventus RS-3 I have the older RS-2 and I love them. They are very quiet and super grippy.

I've decided to go with the Potenza S-04s.

I'll report in 2-3 weeks how they compare to the Toyo T1Rs.
