I hate you Cali guys, the quality of the cars you can get your hands on make me sick.
Not a ton of info on this, but what is there looks decent for the price, in case anyone's looking.

You could always move west. Or just pop out here every once in a while to shop...
That car has been up for sale before. I know this because I spoke to the owner about it and he sent me about 10 more pics of it. I have them somewhere, if I can find them I will post them up.
Yes, it is sickening but at least there are still low rust to rust free cars still out there. If you want a solid Z it can be worth the hassle of flying out, inspecting it, and driving or shipping it home.
08/1970 240z Series-1 #8011 - Silver, black int., 2.4L I-6, 5spd, 90% restored.
06/1973 VW Karmann Ghia - Black convertible, 4spd, 1600cc air-cooled engine.
11/2013 Scion FR-S - Silver, 6spd, a car with the soul of a Z for the modern times.

Did he send picture of the undercarriage? Wonder what needs to be done in the engine bay.
Horseman,
If you knew our tax rates, disfunctionality of government, quality of schools, etc. in California, you'd know that low rust Z's are not an even swap. However, being able to drive them all year long--that's a different story.
Dude, I know all about Calie's political situation, being the political junkie that I am. I live in the fee state, just outside of Bodymore Murderland, a suburb of Washington D.C. Politically we are California east. Tax wise we are like 1 or 2 on the list, I paid upwards of 52% in income tax's alone last year, and almost all of the Z's you can find back here are total restores for rediculous money, or total rust buckets. If I had a few hundred grand laying around I would be the east coast largest importer of Cali cars.
That one looks to be a steal. Wish I could justify it to "she who must be obeyed".![]()

Oh, agreed!!
But, like the saying goes, walk a mile in someone else's shoes and you're then a mile away with a new pair of shoes!
Sadly, the reality is that we have yoked ourselves voluntarily, and that is why we refer to them as SWMBO. (She Who Must Be Obeyed)

I always though it was "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way if they get angry they will be a mile away and barefoot."

That's true, except that you know that SWMBO will eventually catch up with you, barefoot or not. As mine says, you have to sleep sometime, and the way you sleep? You're dead meat!

Ad was taken down by author. Must have sold. Didn't see it but there are still free states in the west. We get Kali transplants here all the time. Then they come here and say, "you know what? It would be great if Nevada did what we did in Kalifornia...."![]()

Sure does. Love the green.

Butterscotch interior bits are very hard to come by, lets hope this one is in good shape. He does mention the driver's seat needs attention. Looks like it might be a nice car. He's certainly asking a premium price.

That's a steal for a first 1000 car if it's in really good condition!

Looks like it has a buyer. I phoned owner and he said someone gave him a deposit for the car. I told him to give me a call if it falls through. Sounds like it was pretty original, with matching numbers motor. Oh well, hopefully it goes to a good owner.

EDIT: I do see tlorber's post is not worded very well and I'm not sure which he means, VIN or price.[/QUOTE]
Yes, I was referring to VIN. The only VINs I've seen recently that are lower than #1000 have been non rolling tubs. I came across (I believe) #606 last year that was a tub with minimal rust. The owner was going to finish stripping parts and then sell it off as a resto candidate.
This one looks interesting. Appears to be very original

The Series 1's never came with a 5-speed so that is a small fib, lots of strange wiring running around the engine bay. No mention of miles or maintenance but it does look to be in good shape. Original radio and lots of other authentic bits.
