Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you to the greatest show on earth.....
Dang, I recognize a lot of the cars there!
That white 240 behind the ropes in Pic #1 looks like 000016, the first Z sold in the US. With that car and a bunch of the others from Suncoast Z Cars (Tampa) I see, we're representin' well! I'm just pissed I can't be out there!
Where is this show at? All those rides there have got to be sweet. Those s31 looks killer.
Love my 240z, but I think that the s31's are taking my heart.![]()
Just to bloody expensive to do any type of work on them.![]()

There are some beautiful cars here(at the show In Daytona) I have been trying to upload into the galleries, but the Hiltons isp is just like Paris, drops her drawers at any time-I can't keep it on line long enough to send five picture bundles...200 pictures to upload and dirty signal!
From Glod medallion contenders to Ultra Modified it is here! S30s and S130s ware well represented-from gold medallion contenders to Ultra modified...PrimaDona is here and dressed to kill! This show is outstanding and our Florida hosts have done an outstanding job! The weather is here and I wish it was beautiful, but the cars, the cars make up for it! You just can't turn around without seeing an S30!!!

Thanks for the great pics. I just started a new federal job and was not able to attend. Just think in a few months those stalls where the cars were parked will be filled with some awesome machinery when the 2008 Rolex 24 gets underway at the end of January.

Hi Gus (everyone):
I can't remember any convention that has had a larger turn-out of Z's for a show & shin, nor judged show. So far, none of the pictures relay the scope of all the garages at Daytona, filled with cars (3 cars per bay!) ... plus the cars that were there, that didn't have room inside. Must have had 200+ Z's there being cleaned/polished and then shown on Tuesday.
Hats off to the members of the Florida Z Association, that worked so hard to pull this off.
Vicki and I were only able to make it for Monday's Show & Shin, then Tuesday's show. We brought the BRE BAJA Z for display only, and were made quite welcome by everyone involved. Special thanks to Chris (26th Z) for picking us up at the track and hauling us down to the Hilton to take care of the paperwork needed to get into the track.
I'm sure glad I didn't have to maneuver the truck/trailer with the Z - in the tight quarters of downtown Daytona Beach, not to mention trying to get into and out of the Hilton's entrance.
Of course, for the people attending the convention, who are not there to conduct ZCCA business, the convention is all about the Z's and the people that bring them. Seeing old friends and meeting new one's. Sorry we couldn't stay longer... we had so little time to spend with each person...
Great Job.... please tell everyone involved we said THANKS!!

Thanks for getting these early pics out for us "wish we were there" guys. I have looked forward to this convention for many months even though I knew I wouldn't be there. We are all there in spirit I suppose. Carl, the BRE BAJA Z is looking great! Can't wait for more pics!
[quote=daddz;231174... Just think in a few months those stalls where the cars were parked will be filled with some awesome machinery when the 2008 Rolex 24 gets underway at the end of January.[/quote]
As a witness at the show, I can assure you "those stalls where the cars were parked" were filled with some awesome machinery! check out the galleries-I just finished uploading 150ish pictures, and I have a few more to convert and upload. There were too many people I wanted to talk to, too many pictures I wanted to take, and not enough hours in the right place at the right time...I did get to shake Art Singers hand, look him in the eye and thank him for his part in some great magazines, and an early owners manual I bought from him.
I did get to see some great cars and talk to several people, I missed several people I wanted to speak with, but I did get to see and in most cases photograph their cars. The pictures do not do most of the justice-I took the photos at 7.1mp and lowered their resolution to post them. The cars were what the show was about, and our Florida hosts really showcased them in the track at Daytona! I gota say, I am already scheduling around going to Ohio for next year, and those guys have some serious shoes to fill-of course, if Mad Mike has anything to say about it, I am sure it will be with a smile, a glad hand, and a tall glass of liquid refreshment! You guys missed a heck of a show-and we missed you!
Will

Thanks Gus,
I asked the Daytona International Speedway overseer for a high spot to take the pics from, and he arranged for a very nice lady to take me up to the observation deck of the press building for the track runs(there were three sets of two laps)! I was taking pictures at 7mp, and the lag time of the camera was a bit of an issue...
I figured, My car didn't get to come, make the most of it, get the best pictures you can, so I did!

Jim Frederick and I started a tradition back four years ago at the Long Beach convention. We all decided to go to Hooter's for dinner one evening. Of course, we drank a lot of beer and I ended up dancing on a table with balloons stuffed in my shirt. Jim and I continued the tradition in Syracuse. Rick stepped in for Jim in Dallas. But this year there was no excuse. Jim was celebrating his #16 parked in the lobby of the Hilton next to the new Nismo and Hooter's was right across the street from the track. We went for lunch a couple of times. Rick was Hoola-Hooping one day and Art Singer has movies of the next day. So, may I introduce Becca, our waitress for the two days. She was way cool and very friendly. It all started when she was carefully pouring a glass of beer from the pitcher. I told her she should pour faster to give us some head and that she would never get head if she poured that slowly. It started a great relationship and we all had a great time. This is Becca with me and Jim.

Bob,
Well, you've finally gone and done it. Now, what do you do? Your car was fantastic in 2004, and I can only imagine how you have tweeked it to pure perfection.
Well done, Bob, now lets see some pictures, and I mean close up shots of all the goodies, including the carpet.
It doesn't get any better than adding a "Gold Medallion" to the pedigree

Congratulations.

it is strange that the ZCCA site is not updated in years with the winners, particulars and the like...but then the convention site hasn't been updated either.
I would think both would be proud of the convention and the cars that were there!

Dan,
Thanks for the comments. I can tell you because I know you will appreciate it that the level of detail would never be noticed by many. It is one thing to detail a car for dirt, grease etc but when you factor in if you have the correct screws or bolts and other parts it can be a challenge. Finding some of them is another challenge in itself. If you, or anyone, are working on a Stock 240 for GM I would gladly share my trials and tribulations anyway I can. I will post some detail shots in my photo gallery in the next few days.
Thanks again
Bob

Kinda sad?
You posted that about 24 hours AFTER it was announced at the Closing Banquet.
I had the only copy of the result except for Paul Hollander. We had to clean up everything left over from the convention Saturday morning and then drive home. Got home around 4:00PM and quite frankly, after a week of working ~ 10-12 hour days, didn't feel like doing anything Z related.
I posted the results on several sites last night (seems like this one was down yesterday) and Ken updated the FLZA site with the results earlier today.
It is quarter to eight on Monday night, Rob. I just cruised the FZA site and this is what is on there about the awards; "Scott, When are you going to post the Zcar show winners from this week?" Ken posted the results? Where? Where on the Suncoast site are the results posted? Where on the Spacecoast site? Where on the ZCCA site?

That was cool, I ended up in six of the track shots. I just need to decide which one to put in the mag. Probably the one where I pass the orange Z higher up the bank. Not sure that was legal, but the official track car behind me didn't do a thing but follow behind. I just wanted to see what it was like to go over 100 mph on the small bank and the orange Z didn't. The coolest part of the trip driving wise for me even if it only lasted 10 seconds or so.
Roger, had I taken your cars for a spin, that would have been tops on my list.
But your 2 year sub is a close second.

Sadly, I never did get to meet Burt, He was pointed out to me, but engrossed in a conversation. His car was quite beautiful, but there was a good dose of third party parts under the hood and on the bumpers. Still, a very nice car-with proper colored taillight surrounds....

PS, Chris, how did you get the "centerfold" quality in your fender photographs-they are downright sexy! I checked and couldn't find subliminal additions...

This is Roger's "Z Wolf". I took this shot outside with 200 speed film and a star filter. It is stopped down pretty hard because of the light from the stars. Still, there are a couple of reflections I didn't want to have.

This one was shot with a flash bounce indoors under fluorescent lighting and a polarize filter. I played around with the filter until I got the reflections I wanted and guessed on the flash. It worked out pretty good. Of course, I crop the pictures in the studio to get the frame I want. These both are pretty tight crops, but I was looking for a lot of graphic impact. Thanks for the compliments.

The pictures that have been posted are spectacular. I had the misfortune of having a fogged up lens on my camera and did get any pics of my 280Z in the car show. If anyone got a pic of my blue 280Z (#217) with Texas plates, I would greatly appreciate an email copy.
Thanks,
Bill
