It looks like a later model brake booster. A 71 240z booster looks something like this:

Hello, i picked up a 71 datsun 240z, and i was looking at the brake booster today and wondering if its a 280z brake booster. What do you guys think?

I am not an expert, are the mounting holes the factory ones or was it modified. Mine is a 72 and she came with a 71 booster, a 72 booster will not fit on my Z existing holes, a 280Z booster is a popular mod but does required re-drilling mounting holes................FWIW

Just looking at the resiviors and caps, it looks later than 73, the length looks rite, but the booster itself is much larger in diameter.

If you replace it, beware that your piston length may be different. I remember doing this quite a number of years ago and used a later model booster. I quickly discovered the piston length difference when my brakes didn't work !! Anyway, my point is to make sure you buy both the booster and the piston if you end up replacing it.

Im not certain because im not home to check, but its looks a lot like my 280z booster. Ill be back home on thurday, if you want I can post some fotos from the booster and under the dash area.
